2025 BMW X3 XDrive30 Review

The new 2025 BMW X3 has to fill enormous shoes. The last generation was one of the best offers of the brand and has set up the sales figures to prove this. Despite the debut in 2017, it was the best -selling individual model of the brand in 2023, which was over 15% of the total turnover of the brand. For 2025, BMW introduced the next edition into the heritage of the X3. Since the model on the sales side makes so much of the heavy lifting, it is important that the new makes everything better than the old. After a week with one, our snack is best summarized as “complicated”.

First impressions and design decisions

Go to the 2025 BMW X3 for the first time causes several different emotions. The new X3 is one of the last BMW models that reflect the shift of the brand of traditional grilling. It is hardly the most foreign design we saw from the brand, but it is also far from the very Confidential face of the G01 X3, which came before. The narrower headlights and less angular air intakes in the bottom of the front bumper lead to a face with a generous negative space. It is not as immediate as the G01; But taste is subjective. Round backs lead to narrower taillights and the lack of an exhaust tip lead to feelings similar to the front. Minimalist to the max.

Good
  • Excellent drive train
  • Dynamic handling
  • Extended technical functions
Bad
  • Touch controls overload
  • Mixed inner quality
  • Polarizing exterior design

Then open the door. The new design of the integrated outer door handles feels much more luxurious than the outgoing model. Similarly, it feels more like an event. The new Idrive gong games and the seats feel much more plush than the last four-cylinder X3 that I drove. It feels more like an IX of $ 80,000 than BMWs almost an entry-level SUV. An overall more spacious cabin and opulent glass roof (the latter not standard equipment) help the plush feeling. The 2025 BMW X3 sends us mixed signals. Strange is, but the interior immediately feels like a level.

Drive train: a kind of new, but definitely improved

We buckle into the X3 and initially stumble a little with ergonomics and cabin feeling. More on that later. As soon as you are on the road, the 2025 BMW X3 feels like an old friend. Our X3 30 XDrive is the four-cylinder model that is based on a well-known B48 engine. But for the new model, BMW has borrowed it with a 48-volt mild hybrid technology. Simply expressed, which gives torque fulfillment at speed and enables an electrical drive at low speed from a stop. Power is excellent; 255 hp and 295 pound foot torque, the latter of only 1600 rpm available. Of course, a good drive train requires more than just a treasure of a motor. Fortunately, BMW’s drive trains are currently among the best in business, and this is no exception.

The wonderful automatic of ZF eight-speed offers crisp and quick layers, regardless of whether you leave it to the car or enjoy a few do-it-yourself shift in manual mode. A new paddle shifter design provides aesthetic improvements and retains its satisfactory clickiness. Insert the traction settings in Sport+ mode and the entire chassis is tightened. It is not the same MDM traction system that you can find in the M series, but it makes a damn good imitation. In view of our 2025 BMW X3, not even an M sports model was. At speeds, assets are a study on immediate satisfaction; Many thanks to the hybrid system and the clever tinkering of BMW on the Turbo shop shop for the new generation.

When the street becomes curvy, the X3 continues. The actual feeling of road is similar to an asthmatic spirit that blows on her fingertips, but precision and weight are dead. And fairly, there are only a few new vehicles at this price that will Satisfied from a perspective of the steering feeling, at least as an enthusiast. Body roll is available, but controlled, and the journey is pleasant in all of the worst road conditions. This last part is twice impressive when you consider that our tester was equipped with optional 20-inch wheels. I think the boundaries of the chassis overstrip it far beyond what the drive train is physically capable. There is absolutely no question that the 2025 BMW X3 was done by the G01 in every respect.

Technology: one step forward

Nowadays, BMW is just as much in business activities to make electronic doodads and ads as effective drive trains. The 2025 BMW X3 is the first of its kind, the iDrive 9 and its accompanying curved screen that includes a 14.9-inch center display and a 12.3-inch cluster for digital instruments. Idrive 9 is much easier to use than the immediate predecessors, although Idrive 7 in the G01 X3 still felt immediately more usable. Mating CarPlay was as easy as ever, and it worked great all the time.

BMWS Active Driving Assistant Pro is even better here than I remember that it is in other products. I effectively drove from a suburb of NYC to the Newark Liberty International Airport without any problems. Since the system has a complete stop and restart without input, the X3 has effectively driven itself-I am honestly not sure what all the lifting boys are about self-driving cars because it looks like BMW is pretty much there.

Of course there are some victims in the search of BMW after maximizing the technical functions and at the same time minimizing points of contact. The air conditioning controls are now checked on the screen, and no one who spent a lot of time in our lender car has loved that. The steering wheel buttons feel like a victim of Trump Administration Job cuts. Fewer buttons are now responsible for more than ever. No more “BC” button on the turn signal stem; No more individual buttons for the radar speed control. In fact, the buttons lead us to one of the larger – maybe only – embroidery points that we have with the 2025 BMW X3.

Quality: two steps back?

The reduction feels like a comprehensive topic in the 2025 BMW X3. An ITTY-BITTY gear increases the cabin space, but does not really feel on premium. The IDRIVE controller looks better than before, but does not feel so satisfactory. Most of these revised steering wheel buttons are not even real buttons. They are haptic, as are all center controls. What sucks. Because they bend the entire panel. Or you press one and don’t want to bend the entire panel, nothing happens because you didn’t press hard enough. Both results are extremely very difficult. The Dinky door handles and strange side ventilation controls are only false plastic blob in contrast to the targeted and stylish handles and buttons of the G01.

The dashboard also leans into the plastic blob aesthetics, and there is not even surrounding lighting in the rear seats. For the first time in my decade, in which new BMW vehicles drove, there was a persistent rattle from the passenger side; I think it came from the door card. There is no way for me to gloss over it: The 2025 BMW X3 takes a step back compared to the outgoing model.

2025 BMW X3 judgment

2025 X3 Held 12025 X3 Held 1

The 2025 BMW X3 is at least this price and dynamically infallible in its segment. The technical-enchanting approach is not our favorite, but on the whole it adds a value instead of taking it away. G01 drivers could miss some of the finer details that made their car a little better. Especially every time you press a haptic button. Or if you have to clear the piano -black trim for the third time in a week.

Customers who come from other brands will not know what they lack. And I suspect that the points of contact are still nice enough to keep the layperson’s fleeting testing. There is also a simple and proven way to forget the small defects of the car. Cance on Dilly Dally with the Doodads, put your foot on the right pedal and enjoy it. Maybe it’s not that complicated.

The 2025 BMW X3 builds on its bestseller heritage with a stricter driving dynamics, a smooth hybrid-supported drive train and improved technologies such as iDrive 9 and advanced driver aids. It feels great on the street – agile, comfortable and reaction fast. However, the new minimalist design, the touch control and some cheaper inner materials take away a little from the premium BMW feeling. It is still one of the best to drive in its class, but long -time fans may miss the more tactile, quality -oriented details of the old model.
