BMW has gradually improved improvements to its first electrical SUV since his debut in 2021. The changes extend to new design elements, including a new grille and headlight design and introduction of a real M -Sportpake. The M Sport package is all aesthetics and available via all trim lines (standard on the M70). Speaking of teeth: BMW was renamed and the equipment variants were converted a little, which included the introduction of a new basic equipment: IX XDRIVE45 with a price of $ 75,150. More range and strength make the 2026 BMW IX a big step, everything is considered. These are excellent news, since the IX was primarily an excellent EV and BMW.
2026 BMW IX electric motor and performance
Nobody expressly asked himself about it, but BMW decided to increase the performance of the IX for the reintroduction of 2026 model years. In the United States, the new IX XDRIVE45 starts the place of the former IX XDRIVE50 as a basic offer. It offers 402 hp and 516 pound foot torque, and BMW says that in 4.9 seconds it is reached 60 miles per hour from a standstill. The next step is now the IX XDrive60, which now appeals to 536 hp and 564 pound foot torque. According to the BMW, the zero-to-60 fittings board falls to 4.4 seconds. Finally the IX M70. It is high with 650 hp and a torque of 811 pound foot. BMW quotes a time with a time of 3.6 seconds to 60 miles per hour, but we hardly did this time when we checked the electrical SUV. All IX models receive XDrive all-wheel drive and have two electric motors.
2026 BMW IX load and range
Despite better performance figures, charging the IX remains relatively in the same year over the year. The IX XDRIVE45 can charge up to 175 kW at DC stations, while the other equipment variants keep their maximum 195 kW. The loading times remain similarly unchanged. So expect to add around 100 miles in about 12 minutes. Level 2 chargers and wall boxes are restored in around 4.5 hours around the same range. The IX XDRIVE45 charging upgrades are only a few, but there is a clear difference between the new vehicle and the old XDrive40.
The range grows across the board for the 2026 BMW IX. The new XDRIVE60 model outshines the old XDrive50 and offers between 318 and 364 miles. The old model was only estimated on 311 miles, Max. M70 models are also compared to a maximum 303 miles on a full range compared to the 296 miles of the outgoing model. The improved range is with the kind permission of silicon -carbid -icen -neck conductor components (sic inverter), a first in BMW EVS.
Indoor and cargo space
Despite the new excavations from outside, little changes within the BMW IX. A note: The IX XDRIVE45 base lacks the cool panoramic view roof for which the model is somewhat known. It takes 2,600 US dollars to resume it. Otherwise, the vehicle shares almost everything else with its larger brothers. Upholstery options and trims remain pretty much the same year over the year, and the IX retains its curved display with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch central information display. Bowers & Wilkins Sound is worthwhile at $ 3,400 and, if possible, sit in the $ 1,600 US doors before you decide whether you choose or not.
The cargo dream remains identical to earlier iterations of the IX with 77.9 cubic foot. No changes to report, but it is worth noting that the IX offers more cargo dream than the X5. Even with the back seats, the IX 1.5 cubic foot offers more storage space. A new towing clutch dress (available from summer 2025) also enables the IX to carry BMW, but only recommends to tow up to £ 3,500.
2026 BMW IX technology and connectivity
There is little new in the department for technology and connectivity. The old IX offered IDRIVE 8.5 with Quickselect, which contains things like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Navigation and voice commands. Despite the lower price tag, you still get this with the new XDRIVE45. It also shares its Harman Kardon sound system with the XDRIVE60. The premium package is available for both models and adds a head-up display with augmented reality (AR), an illuminated kidney size and a parking assistant plus (which includes a 360-degree camera, a backup assistant, self-parallel parking spaces). Most of it is standard for the M70.
Security and driver aid functions
Most functions for driver aid are available via the professional package of 2,550 US dollars. As with the Pre-LCI model, the 2026 BMW IX enjoys the park assistant, the motorway assistant and the driving assistant. These enable the car to park yourself and drive up to 85 miles free hands, while the lane changes through a glance into the corresponding mirror. In any case, the camera and the radar system always work well in which we drove it, and there is no reason to express it differently this time. It is a pretty good value, but by no means add a necessary one. Each IX is delivered with frontal collision reduction, active detection of blind and lane keeping assistants.
2026 BMW IX price design
With the introduction of the new basic level, the IX is now over 10,000 US dollars more affordable than last year in the USA. The pricing begins at $ 75,150 for the IX XDrive45. The IX XDrive60 with a medium class starts at $ 88,500 and the IX M70 at $ 111,500. All models receive an additional delivery fee of USD 1,175. Cadillacs Lyriq is a bit smaller, undermining the basic price of the IX significantly at almost 60,000 US dollars. Rivian’s offer is a little more expensive to start at around 77,700 US dollars. We believe that the IX is a serious value – especially at the bottom, but even the XDRIVE60 offers excellent performance and luxury with which rivals cannot be completely compared.
