With the upcoming 2026 m2 CS, BMW will not reinvent the wheel – but an already focused M car will improve. The CS will be distilled by the G87: lighter, faster, sharper. A more focused development of the M2, which is aimed at drivers, appreciate the precision over Polish. And yet it is a non-starter thank you for many of us.

The numbers, rewritten
At its core, the M2 CS carries the same 3.0-liter twin turbo inline-Six S58-but here it is tuned to 525 hp. That is 65 more than the base M2, which presses the CS to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. The top speed increases to 188 miles per hour and is the fastest 2 series series that has ever been brought to the street.
BMW has opted for an automatic configuration in the new M2-CS, whereby the same 8-speed ZF transmission was found in the current M setup. While this decision can disappoint manual interference, she underlines the mission of the CS: repeatable performance, precision and control loat after round. In contrast to the previous F87 m2 CS, which leaned into the old expansion with a manual option, this G87 generation pursues a more focused, almost perfectionist approach. The rear -wheel drive keeps the puristic spirit in life, but the automatic transmission signals a shift in the direction of optimized execution via analog charm.
Reviation of the chassis and reduced weight
The CS is 30 kilograms lighter than the standard -G87 m2, especially thanks to the extensive use of carbon fibers – roof fiber, sitting and probably additional decorations inside and out. The suspension is reduced by 8 mm, which means that a lower center of gravity and more direct switching on is brought.
It is located on wheels that are loan from the M4 CS and CSL – lighter, lighter and more aggressive and more dynamic.
And no, it’s not all -wheel drive. Despite the speculation, the M2 CS remains determined to the back within the framework of the handwheel-a deliberate decision, which ensures that the chassis remains communicative and the limits, however high they are still accessible.
Design and trim: minimalist but targeted
Visually we hear that the M2 -Cs are only offered in Brooklyn Gray, Sapphire Black or BMW. The cabin with gimmicks is only delivered in full leather-enthedration black or two-tone black/red. The standard kit includes M carbon bucket seats and a steering wheel surrounded with Alcantara.
As with all CS models, it’s not about luxury. It’s about material honesty and functionality – everything you need, nothing that you don’t do.
Limited run, but not the last word
Production begins in August 2025 and runs only for a year. This makes this a short-term special with a clear intention: to close this chapter in M2 history with authority.
However, this is not the last special M2 of this generation. We hear that BMW is planning another G87 variant at the end of next year. Whether this model will be a more extreme CSL variant or maybe a final allusion to the manual.
The 2025 m2 CS is not for everyone – and that is exactly the point. It is not the car that is sold in volume, but the one that lands on posters. In the canon of small M cars, this new CS does not sit next to the original 1M or F87 m2 with regard to purity or analogous properties. But there is no doubt that it will be the fastest M2 ever.
