BMW is relentless in his search for the last drop of performance from the M2. Although there have been two Power upgrades for less than three years. The engineers came to 473 hp last year and 523 hp for the recently launched M2 -CS, which we checked here. The M division is already teasing the possibility of XDRIVE and CSL versions, but in the meantime it cooks something else.
Trace package prototype discovered at Nürburgring
An M2 with a track package was discovered near the Nürburgring near this week. This Sao Paulo -Gelbe prototype is a dead sound for the car that can be seen in the teasers up to the license plate. The camouflage applied to the wing is pointless because it does not hide such a prominent aero element. It is a wing that would not look out of space on a GT3-Spec 911 or Cayman from Porsche.
In its familiar camo wrap, BMW covers about half of the car and indicates additional changes that go beyond the attention-grated wing. Whatever the M-Division planned for the M2, the Compact Sports Coupé will keep its street reasons. You can drive a car equipped with a route package on public roads to and from the racetrack.
The visible rear headrests indicate that the rear seats remain so that BMW will probably reserve a broadcast version for the potential M2-CSL if it materializes. Nevertheless, the Track package should go far beyond the existing catalog of the M parts of performance. BMW has not said whether the new components only offer it as a complete package or enable buyers to select individual items.
The list of compatible M parts for the M2 is already extensive. It comprises a wide range of carbon fiber -up -up -upgrades, centerlock wheels and a Sting suspension. There is also a titanium silencer and who could forget the exhaust gas eyes with stacked tips? With everything that is adapted, the G87 looks directly from a racing video game. Despite the massive wing, this track package is not so noticeable.
How it is with the M2 CS comparison
BMW M told us that it was too early to circumvent details, but they did that the “heavy upgrade” would arrive in 2026. The M2 will probably receive several mechanical improvements, including revision of the suspension, chassis and brakes to shorten the lap times. In CS Guise it is already the fastest in its class around the Nürburgring. Nevertheless, there is space to drop at 7:25 a.m. This would bring the Audi RS3 a further blow, especially if you consider that the M2 CS is already 7.6 seconds faster than Ingolstadt’s fifth-cylinder compact around the green hell.
