BMW has updated the SUV scene with its striking design just a few months after its arrival. Production started in December 2022, but fresh individual colors were already available in spring 2023. Fast Forward, the wildest vehicle that has ever worn the M badge, receives a similarly minor update for the new model year.
Last weekend we spent time with the 2026 XM in Le Mans, where BMW brought the label version with us. In the future it will be the only V8 variant of the dedicated M model. Nevertheless, Europe and other regions receive the cheaper six -cylinder 50e. In view of the press pictures, the M -Gigantoth, which was displayed during the endurance race, wore the blue color of Frozen Tanzanite. It is a matt finish for the XM, but already available for other models.
For 2026, BMW introduces a new set of 23-inch wheels as a “1096 m” set with a black finish. They are optional in Europe, where the XM is now equipped with 22-inch alloys instead of the previous 21-inch set. The largest bikes are contained free of charge in the United States. These are the only exterior changes, the XM remains as polarizing as the end of 2021 that the namesake concept debut.

Inside, the XM label showed, as in Circuit de la Sarthe, new leather padding for 2026. Night Blue Merino is an individual upgrade that is paired here with vintage coffee -brown accents. Alternatively, BMW now offers individual Silverstone Merino leather in combination with black surfaces. In the back area, BMW color the pillows on the seats in vehicles, which can be seen with individual merin or, as can be seen on this, to the seats.
When unveiling the 2026 XM, BMW M boss Frank van Meel said that the cars “individualists, customers with a taste for an extrovert lifestyle”. It certainly looks more eccentric than an X5 m, and you could argue that even the X7 M60i tame. We characterize the XM as an experiment and whether it turns out to be successful or not, at least it gave us the plug-in hybrid V8 in the new M5 models.
It is unclear whether a full -grown facelift will occur, let alone the development of a second generation model. Since BMW V8 and electrical versions of the next X5 M are prepared, it may not be necessary.
