BMW did not joke when more than 40 new or updated cars promised by the end of 2027. Almost every model receives treatment with new class, including the Mighty M5. Although the deliveries of the super sedan started less than a year ago, the processed four-door rocket is already a frequent sight for Car Paparazzi. After a prototype was caught in March during the winter exam in Northern Europe, another G90 has now been discovered in Germany.
But the jury is still adopted whether the newly designed frontend will achieve production. While this M5 has the new look with the concept of 2023 vision, it could be an older prototype. According to rumors, the mid-cycle facelifting of the 5 Series G60 may not be so radical. As a result, the M5 could not fully accept the NEE class design language.
Although BMW originally planned to give the entire 5 -series line -up of a comprehensive change in new class, Munich has changed a change in the heart. As we have already reported, such extensive body changes would bring considerable costs, which is obviously something that every car manufacturer wants to avoid. This applies in particular to a facelifting with a medium cycle. Car manufacturers are far ready to invest heavily in the next generation cars, but the 5 and M5 are initially due for an LCI.
It remains to be seen which path BMW occupies. We will only say that it would be brave that the M5 underwent such a design overhaul. The horizontal kidney grill, which merges with the headlights, will debut in the i3 Electric Limousine (NA0) in 2026. A few months later, the next generation 3 Series follows (G50). Spy shots have shown that the two 3 -seater flavors are contained an almost identical exterior design. In fact, BMW told us that it will be difficult to distinguish it, at least from a distance.
Even if the refreshing 5 skipped the full new class look, the Idrive X from BMW will accept the good or bad, just about everything you love or hate on the IX3, probably on the way to the M5. In addition, the more extensive use of Alcantara in the cabin should increase the feeling of premium.
It will take a while for the M5 LCI to release its camouflage. Production is only expected in July 2027, which comes together with the 5 Series. Both the standard and high-performance versions should receive an unprecedented option: a screen with front fits. At the IAA Mobility Show in Munich this week we learned that customers actively ask for a questions. Stephan Durach, Senior Vice President UI/UX development, told us:
“You know there is enormous demand, especially in really big cars. People ask about it:” I would like to have a special screen for consuming content. “There is space.
The world now looks safe compared to BMW’s customer base a few decades ago …
