BMW admits that it is more difficult to convince M buyers to get an eV

Although BMW M has sold electric cars since the start of the i4 M50 in 2021, it has not yet introduced a fat M car. But this day comes. In 2027, the NEE class I3 sedan, which starts next year, will receive a real M derivative under the code name “ZA0”. However, the German luxury car manufacturer knows that core customers may hesitate to switch to EVS.

In an interview with Top Gear The magazine, the head of customers, brands and sales from BMW M, admitted that the conviction of buyers to jump to an electric M -car is not easy. Sylvia Neubauer admitted that enthusiasts are “not the most natural types to become electrical.” She continued that it will be “more difficult to convince her to change”.

Nevertheless, the Bavarian brand is confident that it can overcome these challenges. How? The introduction of the “right product” will attract the type of M buyer who would normally choose an inline-six or a V8. And if the electrical M3 does not overwhelm you, BMW offers an alternative to a combustion engine. Another ice -powered generation is under development, the code name “G84”. The gas port sedan receives another six-cylinder mill, presumably an updated S58 with mild hybrid technology.

BMW has a good reason to be optimistic about its first full m. The i4 M50, which I mentioned at the beginning, has been the best-selling model for three consecutive years. The M portfolio has expanded many electric M performance models since its debut. Even more are on the way because the second generation IX3 is right around the corner.

Of course, a full model will be equipped with an electric drive train with a higher price and higher customer expectations. It is rumored that the “ZA0” will be the most powerful M3 of all time and may deliver 670 hp, with future versions may exceed the 700 hp mark.

BMW has announced that new class EVS will offer one, two, three or four engines. It is still unclear how many are used in the electric M3. Another piece of the puzzle that we are missing is whether it is a return or all-wheel drive. With regard to its petrol counterpart, it can only be offered with an automatic transmission and XDrive. The two M3 aromas look almost the same.
