The M1 does not need an introduction. The only Supercar of BMW still captivates over 40 years after the meeting of the last mid-engine coupé. The breathtaking wedge machine by GoriorTetto Giugiaaro is an exceptionally rare sight with fewer than 500 vehicles. A hard life was lived after he crashed 12 years ago. But don’t worry – BMW Classic is here to save the day.
This M1 was involved in an accident in an “landscape drive” at the Concorso d’Elanza Villa d’Este in 2013. BMW Classic repairs the car and carefully restores the “E26” into its earlier fame. After BMW M1 ClubWhite is the most common color of all BMW colors, with 163 cars preserving this finish. As you can easily assess, it is more of a street version and not the rarer Procar racing car cars. Nevertheless, this makes this M1 no less special.
The damage to the precious fiber optic body of the M1 could have been much worse, but to see the car in such a rough shape still hurts. It would be great for BMW Classic to document the repair and restoration process via a video series like some Youtuber Do, but until that happens, they have to be sufficient. Modus Operandi’s M1 will look just as good, similar to the 507 roadster by Elvis Presley.
BMW actually has current experiences with the revival of M1S. Ronnie Fieg bought an M1 from 1981 some time ago and sent it to BMW Classic to achieve a complete revision. The KITH founder had its valuable possessions converted as far as possible with original parts and rejected in Techno Violet. Inside it has an individual gray merino leather and the usual kith branding.
BMW Classic needed a whole year to revive Ronnie Fiegs M1, and we are sure that the team also imposes the extra parts for this damaged car.
