In July alone, BMW registered 5,454 new battery electric vehicles (BEVS) in Germany. This is a comfortable lead over the 3,093 units of Audi and the 2,997 units of Mercedes, in which the latter sit several hundred electrical citan and vito vans outside the traditional premium segment. The results strengthen the dominance of BMW in the period from year to year 2025. In the first seven months of the year, BMW 28,037 BEVS sold in Germany – well before Audi 22,725 units and Mercedes 17.435. Tesla, once a disruptive force on the market, remains far behind the German Premium trio with only 10,000 registrations in the same period.

If BMW is taken into account in small car brands, the advantage of BMW becomes even clearer. The 7,511 BEV registrations of Mini this year contribute significantly to the BMW group. In contrast, Mercedes-Benz is still behind Audi even when taking 2,362 intelligent BEVS in the premium segment.

Go to Volkswagen

While Volkswagen continues to have the undisputed leading market leader in the Germany’s overall EV market, BMW is now solid on the second place-in Skoda. This means that BMW’s EV set-up covered the cheaper offers of the Czech brand.
