BMW goes behind the scenes of the ramp stun of the VDX: Video

If you are BMW and have all the eyes, the preparation of a stunt, if not months, takes training. Everything has to work perfectly for the big day, especially if the public event is as massive as the Auto Shanghai 2025. The Vision Driving Experience (VDX) successfully rose to a 55-degree ramp with 13 meters and a new video takes us behind the scenes.

BMW secretly built a double ramp in Wackersdorf, a municipality in the Bavaria district of Schwandorf. Redebar March 13th shows Elias Hountondji by Red Bull Driftbrothers Fame, which is concerned with the VDX. The exhibited cabin and camouflaged mirrors indicate that this was an early prototype, rougher and calmer than the more polished sedan that we saw in Shanghai last week.

The atmosphere from this video has a raw VDX, which runs out compared to the slightly tamer version displayed in China, which was also not a finished product. The only thing that makes it clear to us is that BMW does not put this car in production. So do not expect a road legal model with five shocks under the body sucks the car onto the floor. So why through all efforts? It is more than just a marketing stunt.

BMW would like to demonstrate the functions of its new central computer for new class EVS and show that information can be processed at lightning speed even in such an extreme environment. The VDX has astonishing torque of 13,269 LB-FT, measured by the wheels. How for horsepower? Well over 1,300, with some sources near Munich up to 1,700 hp from Quad engines.

Nevertheless, the so -called “heart of joy”, which completely developed in the house, manages all of this performance effortlessly. According to BMW, this supercomputer can process the data ten times faster than its current systems. You can imagine the VDX as essentially tested. The engineers threw massive performance on a car that produces 1,000 kilograms of static downforce. Another 200 kg (£ 441) come from Active Aero without relying on a massive rear wing.

The upcoming Electric M3, which is supposed to debut later in this decade, will not match the wild skills of the VDX. However, the “heart of joy” will inherit and promise an appealing drive even without inline-six under the bonnet. For combustion engine purists, it is assured: A new gas-powered M3 (G84) arrives next to the electrical version (ZA0).
