BMW is planning a brand new electric car called I2 that is expected to arrive in 2030. In contrast to the current 2-door car, the new i2 is a four-door electrical model that focuses on space and practicability. With the code name NB8, the BMW I2 is at the entry level of the electrical installation of BMW right next to the upcoming I1 -fluß rear. The current 2 -series coupé is not replaced by a gas engine, since BMW does not plan a direct successor for the internal internal combustion engine (ICE) for this car. Instead, the i2 will be a fresh view of a small, entertaining EV.
Like the I1, the I2 is expected to offer it both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options. This is a big step from the current 2-gran coupe, in which a layout for front-wheel drive was used. BMW clearly aims to keep its characteristic sporting driving experience, even in the smallest electric cars.
Bernd Körber, head of BMW product management, said that small cars are still very important for the brand. They help to bring younger customers to the BMW family and keep sales strong. And even if BMW moves towards complete electrification, it still wants to deliver cars that are fun.
Gen6 batteries and engines

We do not yet know precisely performance specifications, but the I2 will use the sixth generation of the BMW’s battery technology (Gen6). These new cylindrical batteries are more efficient and more efficient than the current ones. Thanks to these improvements, BMW is likely to target a drive range of at least 700 kilometers. We also expect an appropriate service compared to the current F74 M235, which exceeds the area with 312 hp.
The compact four-door Elektro-I2 will not only be another little EV-the way BMW remains true to its roots while building up for the future. Further information should be available in the coming years because we are approaching the start of 2030.
