The new M2 -CS can pack a much greater blow than its predecessor, but there is a lack of some of the functions that have made the F87 model something special. We have already addressed the lack of manual gear and carbon fiber front, but why no carbon fiber hood and no strong power dome? Essentially, BMW wanted to move the visual focus back, where the competition is wearing a duck tail spoiler that is reminiscent of a CSL model.
Speak to BMWblog Last weekend in Le Mans, MS Development Manager Dirk Häcker explained:
“We had this discussion, but we decided to do it in the background. So we would like to show the ducktail, this new interpretation. I think this is a very brave and big statement. If you take a look at the car from behind, it is a very aggressive and dynamic view. For this car we have decided to change more in the back of the car.”

Although the CS jumps the carbon fiber hood, we would not rule out an M2 G87 that finally gets the light panel. After all, Hückker admitted during the same interview that a CSL could take place one day. Nevertheless, the hardcore version was not approved for production, and even if this is the case, it is unclear whether the carbon fiber fiber plastic hood (CFP).
It would make sense to fit a carbon hood into the M2 -CSL, since the engineers would have to stop taking more weight than on the CS to justify the “L” at the end of the name of the car. As a refreshment, the CS replaced almost £ 100 compared to the standard -M2 sold in the USA. The European counterpart has dropped by around 30 kg.
For what it is worth, BMW carbon fiber has used for the integrated Ducktail spoiler on the M2 CS as part of a wider CFRP package to achieve weight reduction.
