It is another day, another epic matchup. Today Carwows Mat Watson struggled into the brand new Porsche 911 GTS, which is ready to take over against one of the best Bavaria-the BMW M4 CS. Both cars pack serious firepower, but there can only be one winner in a drag race. So which one is it?
Let’s start with the Porsche first. Under the rear deck there is a 3.6-liter turboch-flat-Six, which produces a fleshy 541 hp and 610 Nm torque. As always, Power hits the road across all four bikes via Porsches Slick 8-speed automatic transmission. The key to the fast start of the Porsche? This legendary rear engine setup. When the engine hangs backwards, the 911 digs its rear tires into the asphalt to get unbeatable traction from the line. It taps the scale with relatively bad 1,645 kg – but new at £ 139,100, it is definitely the more expensive option.
Now next to it is BMWS sharp-edged M4-CS. With the 3-liter twin turbola straight S58 Sixt the bimmer, which runs a bit forward in the light performance and produces 550 hp and 650 Nm torque. Like the Porsche, the M4 sends all this power supply to all four wheels through an 8-speed car drives, but has to deal with an additional 115 kg with 1,760 kg. So it is evenly fitting: the BMW brings a little more horsepower and torque to the table, but the lighter Porsche counters with better traction and a layout in the back engine for fast starts. Which car brings victory? There is only a real way to find out.
