BMW M5 G90 against Porsche Taycan Turbo GT

After most modern cars, the 2025 BMW M5 is a monster. With 727 hp and an amazing torque of 738 LB-FT (1,000 Nm) of the hybrid V8, it is the second most powerful BMW that has ever been produced. But in today’s arms arms it turns out that electricity is not everything. Sometimes.

Enter the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach package stuttgart fully electric gran-goal. Thanks to its 778 hp, the 1,018 hp and 914 LB-FT (1,240 Nm), it should be on all four bikes, with the overboat function of the 1.018 hp and 914 LB-FT.

What gives an insult to the injury is weight – or the lack of it. Although the Taycan Turbo GT is an EV, it is actually lighter than the hybrid M5. At 2,315 kg, the Porsche undermines the 2,434 kg BMW by almost 120 kilos. This is the fair of a passenger and a weekend bag – enough to make a real difference if milliseconds are important.

And they are important.

The track test begins later in the video. Behind the steering wheel? The stig. The BMW M5 clocks a lap time of 1: 19.8 – identical to its predecessor, the F90 M5, and legends like the Porsche Carrera GT. This is not a low performance, especially in view of the additional weight of the hybrid system. The balance, the mobility and the mere power of the car are still impressive. But the Taycan? It defines a bladder time of 1: 14.3. Five and a half seconds faster.

The judgment? If you want raw, relentless, record -breaking speed, the Taycan Turbo GT is the new benchmark. But if you have wrapped electricity, heritage and V8 in a more accessible package, the new G90 M5 still delivers its characteristic brand with a high octane magic, when it becomes second in a straight line.
