Who knew that football teams needed security cars? To our surprise, the M5 touring is not the first BMW M -Auto to take on this role for Real Madrid. The G99 replaces an SUV with the same plug-in hybrid drive. Yes, we talk about the XM. From now on, Bayern’s Super car will lead the security convoy at public events.
We will first see it on April 16 when players accompanied the Champions League quarter -final game against Arsenal in the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. It will be interesting to see whether the M5 touring will carry out its route with the 4.4-liter V8 twin turbo run. In purely electrical mode, the car can cover up to 69 kilometers (43 miles) in the WLTP cycle.
The largest car made of BMW’s GO-Fasten-Division bears a special painting in the molors and bears the lettering “Rethink the Game”. BMW and Real Madrid have now taken over this catchy slogan in their third season. If something annoys us about the car, it is the case that BMW adjusts the parking sensors in color with the paintwork. Instead, they are black and are much more emerging than they should.


Since this is not a real security car like the M5 tour of MotoGP, it has neither the light bar nor the other modifications. In every respect, it is basically an advertising work. Not that BMW has to spend more marketing money for the G99 to advertise its long roof-M car. The demand is at unexpectedly high level and forces BMW to increase production.
While the MotoGP Safety Car was decorated with M parts of power, this power car is standard. It skipped the carbon ceramico brakes and also lacks the carbon mirror caps. BMW was able to match this M5 tour with the black 951 m wheels, which are alternatively offered in a two-colored look.
Let’s dare, we say that Real Madrid’s new security car with its M strips sends a little DTM mood and reminds us of the glorious days of the M3 E30.
