BMW has prepared the next generation of its biggest luxurious SUV quietly, and near Munich the upcoming BMW X7, Codename G67, interpret on the right track for a production of production in August 2027. While BMW has officially confirmed that the vehicle for an increased R&D investment for a future flagship -SUV bundling in the brand 2025 brand in the areas of HIG -Hill -Abdevelopments in the fields of financial services in the areas of financial investments in the brands in the areas of financial services is open.
The new G67 X7 would arrive after the BMW X5 G65 of the next generation (expected in 2026) and before the next BMW X6 (expected in 2028) with a projected production run from 08/2027 to 11/2034. Although technical details remain under closure, early signs indicate that a diesel engine can still be offered in Europe, which continues the commitment of BMW for a longer long-distance tour from BMW.
Diesel can live on for the time being

While BMW has not confirmed any drive strangers, the current BMW X7 XDRIVE40D uses the B57D30T0, a 3.0-liter inline-Six turbo diesel with 340 hp and 700 Nm (516 LB-FT) torque. It is combined with a 48-V mild hybrid system that delivers additional 12 hp and does the total output to 352 hp. This engine already corresponds to the latest Euro 7 regulations and makes it a logical candidate for the transfer to the next generation X7. The use of an existing, emission-compliant drive train would also help BMW to avoid significant reinvestment-especially if the diesel regulations later tighten with the incoming Euro 8 standards this decade.
However, whether the diesel will survive the full production cycle of the G67 remains for the start markets in Europe, it seems that the XDRIVE40D variant is still very on the table.
V8 probably for the USA, Diesel is not expected

In the United States it says in sources that diesel power is not taken into account. Instead, BMW is probably retained the S68 4.4-liter twin turbo V8, which can currently be found in the X7 M60i. The mild hybrid engine delivers 523 hp and up to 631 hp in the Alpina XB7 and remains the brand option for powerful luxury SUVs in North America. With a strong customer demand and fewer regulatory hurdles, the V8 will probably continue to supply top-top-US models of the G67 X7 with electricity.
No plug-in hybrid planned
Despite the increase in plug-in hybrids in the SUV range of BMW, sources suggest that no PHEV version of the G67 X7 is currently planned. This would follow the same strategy as the current model that skipped electrified drive lines in favor of mild hybrid petrol and diesel options. For environmentally conscious European buyers, the efficient six-cylinder diesel remains the most economical election at least until the regulations tighten again.
