BMW XM Facelift comes later this year

Preparations can be deceptive if the sales cards are examined. Although the XM grew by 15.8% last year, the hard reality is that BMW only delivered 7,813 units. This dragged the plug-in hybrid SUV at the bottom of the ranking, since even the Z4 roadster went better through five digits. But even an unpopular model deserves some attention from time to time, right?

Our sources near Munich claim that BMW gives the XM a nip and swing the XM later this year. However, do not expect any major changes for the dedicated M model. After all, it would not make sense to invest a significant amount of money in a vehicle that does not sell so well. We have heard that the color palette will grow to contain new shades and there will be some minor inside packaging.

It is unlikely that BMW will change the headlights and taillights, since all changes would require costly tooling updates. The update of the XM was to follow the recipe used last year when the M2 was modestly revised. At this point, M -boss Frank van Meel told us that the smallest M car went through a life cycle impulse despite the discrete changes. It is unclear whether the 2026 XM is also referred to as LCI.

As already reported, the installation of the XM is simplified by eliminating the 644 hp version. Instead, we have heard that BMW will only sell the electrified SUV as a 738 hp label in the USA. The German luxury brand is expected to retain the cheaper six-cylinder 50e model for the European market.

With regard to the jury, the jury is not yet there whether a second generation is planned. There were contradictory reports on the potential tracking of the G09. Some say that a fully electrical successor is (or is) in the creation, while others quickly reported that the XM will be a one-and-done matter. We last heard of this topic in June 2024 when a second generation model had not been canceled. However, the cards are probably stacked against a direct replacement for the current model, which is assumed that it stacked from production in the summer of 2027.

Let’s be honest: only a few would miss it.
