BMW Z4 New class is the slim roadster that we will not get

For BMW it makes sense to start the new class campaign with the 2026 IX3. It is a very lucrative segment for the brand, so it is only logical to start where there is a strong customer base. Come 2026, Munich will double with an i3 for those who still prefer limousines to CrossOvers. Subsequent NK models will also be countries-oriented, and more than 40 cars will be launched on the market by the end of 2027.

Not every car with the round will make it into the era of the new class. In the next year, enthusiasts will have to say goodbye to the beloved Z4 because the sporty roadster is not renewed for a new generation. Although it is a fan favorite online, low sales do not investigate the investment in a successor.

Nevertheless, this rendering introduces itself a parallel universe in which the future (German for “future”) still has a future. The application of the new design language of the IX3 to a two-seater, open top sports car delivers spectacular, albeit purely imaginary results. The Italian artist Luca Serafini used his talents and digital drawing tools to hypotheter a class, which looks almost too good to be true.

Even if this elegant sports car never sees production, he triggers hope. According to reports, BMW is developing an i4 Coupé (NA2) in addition to a corresponding i4 convertible (Na3) for a double debut later this decade. If this rendering is an indication of this, we have a real reward. The Z4 may remain virtually, but it is a festival for the eyes and a memory that attractive cars will still have a place in the future of BMW.

BMW has confirmed that every model takes over new class styling. The first wave will concentrate on core offers that draw the largest human rooms in exhibition rooms. Ideally, the niche sports car segment is not neglected either. It is more and more difficult to make the business case for a roadster, but it is difficult to imagine that the installation of BMW without one.

At the moment, the i4 convertible seems to be our only hope, especially since another 4 Series droptop looks unlikely. The Bigger 8 Series will escape in 2026 and take another convertible next to the Z4. Nevertheless, it seems unlikely that Bayern will give up two -door cars as soon as these models have disappeared. The thumb crossed BMW, which sprayed some new Magic class on a coupé and roadster before the end of the decade. We would take this Z4 exactly as it is.
