Two decades after BMW introduced the 1 Series in the compact premium segment, the Munich-based car manufacturer launched the fourth generation in the summer of 2024. The F70 M135 xDrive – the range-topping 300hp variant – has now caught the attention of Swiss tuning specialist dAHLer Competition Line, who have developed a comprehensive upgrade package aimed at both performance and aesthetics.

Performance and exhaust

The heart of the dAHLer program is the Stage 1 performance upgrade for the B48 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. The modification increases power from the factory 300 hp to 340 hp, while torque increases from 400 Nm to 480 Nm. A Level 2 option provides additional performance for customers who want more aggressive tuning. The engine work is complemented by a self-developed four-pipe exhaust system made of stainless steel. Both the performance upgrade and the exhaust are available individually or can be combined. Importantly, the Stage 1 package ensures compliance with Euro 6e emissions standards according to WLTP test protocols and has EU and Swiss homologation certification.

Chassis refinement

dAHLer offers a graduated approach to chassis dynamics. The high-performance coilover suspension offers both adjustable ride height and user-configurable damping stiffness, allowing the owner to dial in their preferred balance of compliance and responsiveness. For those who prioritize visual advantages over extensive adjustability, the sport springs from dAHLer offer a simpler solution. These components are specifically calibrated for use with the M135’s factory adaptive M-spec dampers.

Wheels and visual improvements

dAHLer’s in-house range of rims takes a prominent place in the overall visual package. The CDC1 design uses ten powerfully shaped spokes in a traditional aesthetic, while the CDC2 Forged has a more complex appearance – its overlapping double spoke pattern creates a three-dimensional effect. Both designs are available in 8×20 inch size, wrapped in 235/35R20 rubber. The CDC2 can be specified in various finishes, including a “dAHLer Edition” variant with partially polished surfaces, further emphasizing the dimensional style of the wheel.

A carbon fiber front spoiler lip is currently in development to sharpen the appearance of the front of the M135 and reinforce its performance-oriented stance.
