Ex-Jaguar and Aston Martin Designer have redesigned the classic mini

David Brown Automotive is known for its Restomods of the Classic Mini, but there is another British company that wishes a piece of the campaign. Greet Callum, named after the well -known British designer Ian Callum. After working on various models from Ford, Aston Martin and Jaguar for decades, he decided to found his own company in 2019.

His latest project is based on a mini from the time before the BMW, especially on an MK5 in sports pack taste. Callum has teamed up with coachbuilder Wood and Pickett to revive the Dinky Schrährheck. The first car was commissioned by the English model and creative director David Gandy. It is characterized by plump fenders filled as part of a new body kit that contains redesigned front and rear customs. The adorable city car also has revised rear and new side sleepers.

The body changes are not just for style. According to Callum, cooling and aerodynamics also played a role. The classic mini now has an anthracite -metal -finish, supplemented by modern front and rear lights. It drives on 13-inch alloy wheels that were specially developed for this project and combined with improved brakes with 8.4-inch ventilation panes. A “road intake” is said to offer a more comfortable journey.

Inside, the MK5 keeps its retro charm and adds a touchscreen infotainment system to keep up over time. Tan leather gives the cabin an upscale feeling, supplemented by metal accents and a wooden fitting board. In addition to the visible changes, Callum is noticeably calmer than that of the donor car according to the Callum.

The power supply comes from a freshly converted 1,310 cc engine that makes a healthy 110 hp, a significant upgrade via the initial 63 hp performance. As expected, the gearbox was reinforced to cope with the additional omp from the enlarged four -cylinder mill (the original had a shift of 1,275 ccm). On the back it is difficult to miss the new exhaust system for two exits.

In view of the numerous upgrades and the fact that it is handmade, it is no surprise that this mini is not cheap. Callum asks £ 75,000 (102,000 US dollars), and these are before options. However, you will receive exclusivity for this money because there will be no two cars the same.
