Frozen Tanzanite blue, new black wheels

It is not surprising that BMW does not invest in a full life cycle for the XM. However, it also neglects the most powerful production vehicle. For 2026, the plug-in hybrid SUV receives an additional layer of adaptation, including a fresh individual color option and a new set of wheels. The highly riding electrified device was discovered in which the latest updates were parked in front of the company’s British headquarters.

The XM label now offers the option of frozen individual tanzanite blue, a matt finish from the individual catalog of BMW. Also new for 2026 are these stately 23-inch wheels (code names 1096 m), which are available in a black finish for another 3,250 GBP in Great Britain. While the British configurator does not yet list the price for the new color, the individual Dravit Gray currently costs 2,400 GBP. We suspect that this new color becomes even more expensive.

Will this be enough to draw more buyers to the most controversial M model of our time? Probably not, but at least BMW does not let the XM slide into the dark. You can expect to see more of the updated XM this weekend. It is planned to make its official public debut on June 14th in Le Mans 24 hours. The M Hybrid V8 will drive in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) on the Circuit de la Sarthe.

As in the United States and the rest of Europe, Great Britain will only offer a V8 variant. The standard model was dropped, so that only the more powerful label version was left behind with a steep £ 154,470. For those who are looking for a lower entry point, the six -cylinder XM 50E remains available in Great Britain for a more accessible £ 112,580. Nevertheless, the X5 M60i, which begins almost 100,000 GBP, seems to be the better value overall.

The XM experiment continues for the time being, but a second generation seems unlikely. Reports have mentioned a possible EV successor, but that seems doubtful, especially with Alpina, who launched an electric X7 later this decade. We recently reported on a probably likely electrical X5 M, which further reduces the need for an XM EV.
