The new X5 line-up promises the most versatile to date with new class-inspired styling, the latest technology and the first full electrical IX5. It is an SUV that you should wait for whether you want luxury, efficiency or raw performance. In 2026, BMW’s flagship -SUV prepares to cover all bases.

The new X5 debut as a model year 2027, but production begins much earlier. As far as we know, the G65 will start production in August 2026. So expect the deliveries to begin later in the year (from the fourth quarter) or in the early 2027 spy. Our first look at the X5 interior showed new class supplements such as panoramic views and a unique 17.9-inch midfield display.

Drive lines are varied, with gas, hybrid and EV options on the way. BMW could possibly release a model with hydrogen fans; Details are currently economical. When a hydrogen BMW X5 comes, it is not released with the first installation offer – the production of 2028 is more likely. Speaking of production: BMW currently estimates the G65 production to July 2035. This is a longer production cycle that makes up the great variety of models on offer.

First IX5 in 2026

It is probably more exciting for the purely electric IX5. It is the first of its kind, and BMW is supposedly offer three different classes: 50 XDrive, 60 XDrive and M70 XDrive. Since the G65 IX5 effectively comes from the line -up over time, you can expect an improved performance, but a similar positioning. We have also heard reports about an IX5-Rex or an area expanded with a range of over 1,000 kilometers. The additional area comes from a smaller gas engine or a “range extender”, similar to the i3. All electrical X5S are dependent on a new class battery with a greatly increased performance overall, but the hard numbers are still not. We know that the change to an 800-volt architecture enables a maximum charge of 350 kW. This corresponds to 300 kilometers of additional range in about ten minutes.

According to reports, gas engines extend to six and eight-cylinder models. The installation can include at least two hybrid models, 50e XDrive and M60E XDrive; It remains to be seen whether the combination of S68 + battery from XM and M5 will decrease to the G65 x5, but a G95 x5 m is planned. Nevertheless, a few days ago we tested PHEV inline-six and V8 models. If the S68 is limited to the M60 XDRIVE model, you expect the M60E to have a more powerful version of the B58-inline-Six, which is probably also under the bonnet of the 50e XDRIVE model.

Diesel options are available, most likely only outside the USA, and BMW continues to offer the options for return and all-wheel drive at the entry level (X5 40). China will also see long versions of wheelbase, but they won’t come to other markets. Dimensional, as always, the next X5 will be larger than the current G05 model.

This is about what we know about the G65 X5. Since production begins in about a year, Leck will probably increase if the date approaches closer to an official unveiling a month or two before the start of production. The new G65 will be a completely different vehicle than the model we know today. We look forward to seeing BMW hopefully.
