Gareth Bale meets the route and teas in Munich

The week of the BMW International Open always brings with it a mixture of top golf and celebrity camen, but this year Gareth Bale left its mark on both the route and outside the course. Before the former Real Madrid star entered the Fairways in the Golf Club Munich Eichenried, he went to the BMW M -Driving experience in Maisach, where he exchanged golf shoes against driving gloves -and had a real exit behind the bike of a BMW M4 competition.

There Bale completed a complete BMW training course for security drivers. This included high-speed maneuvers, wet surface and a bit of fun with tire smokers exactly what they would expect from someone who is used to being under 80,000 fans. “I played a few times in Munich in football for Real Madrid and achieved some very good results, so Munich was a great place for me,” said Bale. “To play again in recent years to play in the BMW International Open, was really fun, enjoyed the course, enjoyed the city. It is always nice to be back.”

Gareth Bale needs little introduction. Cardiff, born in Welsh wingers, exploded to the football scene with Tottenham before sealing a world record transfer on Real Madrid in 2013. In Spain he won five Champions League titles, three La Liga Trophies, and scored some of the most memorable goals in the latest football history, the Champions League League League 2018 kick.

But while most fans are reminiscent of Bale because of his pace, power and preference for a goal in big moments, those who followed know that Golf was always more than a hobby. He practiced for days, installed a putting green at home and even had a cheeky “Wales. Golf. Madrid”. The flag waved to him during an international break. When Bale announced his resignation from professional football in 2023, it felt like a full-circuit moment for finally concentrating on the game that he had loved quietly for years.
