Is BMW teasing a Nurburgring round time for the M3 CS tours?

LAP recordings are generally not a decisive factor for someone who buys a car. However, the M3 touring is not a typical shopping sponsor who aims at a niche of customers who want to have everything. A new contribution to social media indicates that BMW is back in the Nürburgring with the G81. Instead of returning with the standard car, the M division increases the use with the hotter competitive sport.

A video that was divided Instagram Shows the M3 CS tour, which deals with the challenging German race track. The news “on a hot round” has the impression that BMW is teasing an improved lap time. The time to beat is 7 minutes and 35 seconds, a performance that the standard car achieved three years ago.

This lap time was not exceeded by another production car, so that the M3 touring still holds the record for the fastest property around the Nürburgring. The time applies to the 12.9 mile configuration of the route. A potential record run would reflect BMW’s strategy with the M2 CS. The “Baby M” recently shaved 7.6 seconds from the lap of the standard model.

It is too early to say whether the M3 -cs touring will cut so much time from the performance of the standard -g81. But it is certainly possible, especially since the lap may have been completed with the optional “ultra-track tires”, which was announced when the spicy car debuted in January. The M2 CS also used the most sticky rubber – Girelli P Zero Trofeo RS – when the Audi RS3 is the fastest compact car around the ring.

As for potential challengers, not many come to mind. Audi could try the future RS5 Avant or RS6 Avant. We assume that Mercedes-AMG will probably not run with its much-criticized four-cylinder hybrid C63 estate. And let’s not forget that BMW now has an M5 tour. After all, the G99 could also strive for the supremacy of the car to the Nordschleife.

Not that we would have to convince, but the M3 -CS touring may be the most desirable car in the current line -up of BMW. It ticks almost every box and has space to keep them in its spacious freight area. A Nürburgring record would be another spring in his cap and a way to justify the high price. In Germany it starts at € 152,900 and climbs with all options, including carbon ceramico brakes and individual color, over € 173,000.
