Listen how BMW’s new EVS class will sound in sports mode

“Hyperspersch” is the latest term that has been added to the constantly growing marketing jargon of BMW. It refers to the Sound’s new class models to produce the lack of an internal combustion engine. Future electric vehicles are no longer dependent on Hans Zimmer’s specialist knowledge in order to provide an exciting soundtrack. Instead, the dedicated BMW Sound Design Studio created its own melodies. No fewer than 43 sound signals and special driving noise for personal and sports modes were developed.

Thanks to a new social media contribution, we are now hearing some of the sounds in sports mode. As expected, BMW refers to a science fiction soundscape so that the next generation’s IX3 looks like it has run back from the future. The “NA5” begins the rebirth of the new class, with several other electric vehicles will follow in the next few years.

BMW pumps the fake through the loudspeakers while the vehicle accelerates. Similar to today’s Iconik sounds, we assume that BMW drivers can switch off the artificial soundtrack. The spaceship noise will still share the opinions: some like it, others don’t. As long as customers have freedom to switch it on or off, we see no problem.

Since BMW better describes the sound, the official explanation is: “The vehicle gives the impression of moving between different three-dimensional sound layers and thus authentically transporting the feeling of speed and BMW-typical driving dynamics into the cabin.”

There are also plans for a more aggressive sound to imitate the sound of a combustion engine. When BMW teased the electric M3 a few months ago, we heard a prototype that creates a synthesized inline-six grade. We can conclude that male M-electric models are equipped with their own special noises to improve the feeling that they are in a performance vehicle.

Of course, enthusiasts would rather have reality. Fortunately, an M3 (G84) with a six -cylinder engine is in the works. In addition, M has undertaken to keep the INLINE SIX and V8 alive for the coming years. Fortunately, real ice music does not go anywhere. If you prefer to become electrical, but still want an indication of the combustion motor character, Hyperx could make the trick.

At the end of the day it is a gimmick. However, BMW believes that there is space for artificial engine sounds in the luxury segment.
