There is rare, and then there is Alpina Z1. BMW produced only 8,000 units of the Petite Roadster with sliding doors, but the version modified in Buchloe was even more exclusive. Between July 5, 1990 and September 19, 1991, only 66 units were built. One of these cars will be auctioned on May 24th in the Concorso d’Elanza Villa d’Este.
Broad Arrow sells the car #23, which only has 29,479 kilometers on the clock. Officially known as BMW Alpina Roadster Limited Edition (RLLE) and was originally available for 116,000 German markings in retail. This was a significant premium compared to the Standard BMW Z1, which reveals 83,000 DM -DM winners. As expected, this example is not cheap. The auction house estimates that it brings between 120,000 and 150,000 euros. However, it is offered without a reserve, so there is a theoretical chance to grab it less. Of course, provided that the collectors do not work to claim such a rare jewel.
Although Alpina has reported seven additional Z1S into RLE Spec, this is an original Roadster -Limited Edition. This means that the two-seater sports car has a real Alpina chassis number and a numbered badge. While about half of the production run was sold in Europe, this top red example with gold -side pull -up pictures was initially delivered to a customer in Japan. It was later imported to the Netherlands in 2017 and remains in excellent condition.

Compared to a standard BMW Z1, the Alpina RLE exchanged the 2.5-liter inline SIX against a larger 2.7-liter engine from the B3 2.7. The power rose by 30 hp to 200 hp and the torque rose by 39 Newton meters (29 LB-FT) to 261 Nm (193 LB-FT). This additional muscle enabled a sprint of 0–62 miles per hour (100 km/h) in 7.1 seconds, depending on a test of Auto motor and sports. It made it 1.3 seconds faster than the official number of BMW for Standard Z1.
Other upgrades included striking 17-inch alpina wheels, which were wrapped with 235/40 tires and shorter front suspension springs. The Roadster in Pint size also received an individually numbered badge on the Momo steering wheel.
If you are more interested in something new, BMW also reveals a fresh unique and possibly the new M2-Cs in this year’s concorso d’Elanza villa d’Este.
