BMWS turned the wick up with the new 2026 m2 CS – and then cut the fat. The output increases to a scorching performance of 523 hp, weight waste by almost £ 100 and 0–60 is shaved on the way to a top speed of 188 miles per hour to 3.7 seconds. It is sharper, slimmer and faster than ever. From $ 98,600 plus destination, this is the BMW compactm weapon that fully sends.
Before we go on, we turn to the elephants in the paddock: the manual is gone.
Yes, this new CS is only automatic. The sweet 6-speed that made the last M2-CS a raw and appealing drive? Left behind. In its place is the 8-speed M-Steptonic with Treverogic Quick, capable and efficient, but a crucial piece of driver participation was sacrificed to the altar of performance.

But here is what you get instead.
523 PS, from 473 in the standard M2 and the output of the M3 CS and M4 CS. The torque rises to 479 LB-FT and delivers over a wide, flat plateau from 2,700 to 5,620 rpm. It is still the S58 inline-6, but this melody gives it an additional 50 horses over the base car and only 1 LB-FT in front of its larger CS sisters. Zero to 60 miles per hour falls back to 3.7 seconds than the standard car M2 of two tenths and loads with the standard M driver package up to an electronically limited 188 miles per hour.

The weight game
This CS is also a bit diet and trims 97 pounds against the standard -M2 steptronic. A carbon roof, a carbon rear diffuser, a CFRP case with integrated spoiler, forged wheels and a stripped cabin contribute to the cut. It is not entirely in the spring weight, but in this age of technically loaded performance cars it is a sensible reduction. The curb weight now ends up around £ 3,680 – depending on the specification, around £ 150-200 lighter than an M4 CS.

Chassis optimizations that are important
Where the M2 CS really begins to carve its own line, there is in its chassis setup. BMW M has re -calibrated the adaptive M -suspension with unique spring and damper rates, stiffened the motor holders for a sharper reaction and optimized the stability control logic for more playful (but still predictable) dynamics. The driving height is 0.2 inches lower than the inventory, and it receives the usual CS extras: a reclaimed steering, M -differential and the integrated brake system for linear pedal feeling. Optional carbon ceramics are offered for $ 8,500-and standard composite brakes are strong enough for most abuse in the real world.

Compared to M3 CS / M4 CS?
The biggest difference here is scaling and layout. The M3 CS and M4 CS receive both XDrive all -wheel drive so that you can lower the performance under less ideal conditions. The M2 CS only remains in the rear wheel drive, which Purists may prefer for balance and feeling, but it limits the traction outside the line. The larger CS models also have more luxury, more weight and more price: both start north of 118,000 US dollars. The M2-CS slots in a relatively “affordable” $ 98,600 (plus $ 1,175) is the lightest, smallest and analogous member of the CS family sog without a manual.
With regard to the performance increases, it is 0.1 to 0.2 seconds behind the M3 CS and M4 CS in the sprint to 60 and the XDRIVE confidence is missing. But in return you get something with a thriller character, a smaller footprint and probably more focused feeling – especially if you follow it.

In the cockpit
Step on the inside and the race -ready mood continues. Carbon -bucket seats (heated, with removable headrests for the helmet release), Alcantara trim, red CS accents and a minimalist carbon center console reinforce the idea that this is a driver car. You still get the comfort of the creature: Harman Kardon Audio, Idrive 8.5, head-up display and all the latest semi-autonomous security children girls. However, the focus is on the drive, not on the digits.

Our early attitude
The 2026 BMW M2 CS is a real deal driver, even if it has taken a philosophical turn of the purity of its predecessor in the row. It is faster, more agile and probably more capable – but at the expense of one of the last gear transmissions in the M catalog. Compared to the M3 CS and M4 CS, it is easier, pure and more affordable, while 95% of the performance and (apparently) offer 110% of the attitude.
If the G87 M2 is the Modern Turbo from 2002, the M2 CS is not its homologation specifications that you are moving your own gears this time to move.
