Mercedes-Benz officially presented the brand new CLA shooting brake with the EQ technology. The new CLA floating brake signals a new era for the Stuttgart brand, but is also a gap on the market where rivals such as BMW do not yet have to occur – although not long. The highlight is of course the range: 761 kilometers (473 miles) and a versatile interior with up to 1,290 liters of cargo.
The shooting brake becomes electrical

The CLA shooting brake always dealt with design, combined with the user -friendliness of a car. But now in its third iteration it enters the electrical age and drives on the new MMA platform from Mercedes (Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture). This makes it possible to be offered both as a full of electric vehicle (EV) and 48-volt hybrid.
Two starting variants lead the cargo: the 200 kW (268 hp) CLA 250+ socket brake and the dual engine all-wheel drive CLA 350 4MATIC with 260 kW (348 hp). The former promises a class conduction WLTP range of up to 761 km, while the latter still delivers impressive 730 km. Both have an 85-kWh-lithium-ion battery with silicon clan anodes, 800 V architecture and ultra-fast DC shop of up to 320 kW. That is enough to win 310 km of range in just 10 minutes.
Technology in abundance and abundance inside

In the interior, everything revolves around digital functions. The MBUX superscreen extends via the dashboard with optional triple display function, including a separate passenger screen for streaming, games or navigation. The system is operated by Unity Game Engine and supported by AI by Microsoft, Google Gemini and Chatgpt4o. The result? According to Mercedes, a voice assistant remembers, reminds, reminds and even reacts.
To do this, add a 12.2-inch head-up display, adaptable surrounding lighting, heated seats, the biometric registration and USB-C connections with up to 100 watts, and the CLA recording brake has many functions for an entry-level product. The panoramic roof with electrochrome glass can switch from transparent to opaque in milliseconds. When the night falls, 158 embedded stars shine in harmony with the ambient lighting.
Space meets sportiness

The Mercedes-Benz Cla shooting brake also seems to be very practical. Thanks to a longer wheelbase of 61 mm and a higher roof line, the background rates enjoy increased headroom (+7 mm) and penetrate more easily. The cargo space measures 455 liters with places and up to 1,290 liters with folded (40:20:40 split). There is also a 101-liter brach chief under the bonnet, and standard roofing rails can support up to 75 kg. A braking capacity of up to 1,800 kg is also offered.
Will BMW soon bring a rival?

The brand based in Munich currently does not offer a direct electrical competitor for the CLA shooting brake. While the IX1 and i5 touring place some gaps in the BMW electricity and crossover series, neither offers a compact coupe wagon design.
That could change soon.
BMW is rumored that he is working on an i3 tour that is part of the family new class, is expected to debut according to the New Sympturnal I3 sedan. Based on the same EV-focused architecture, the i3 touring (Codename NA1) would be BMW’s answer to this electrical estate formula-a sporty alternative with a low roof and more traditional cars. BMW is also expected to include its central computing and panorama vision -display system “Heart of Joy” in order to offer a great driving and digital user experience.
The brand new Mercedes-Benz CLA shooting brake officially starts in Europe in March 2026 and will probably wear premium prices to meet high-end specifications and equipment. According to Mercedes, plug-in-hybrid combinations with two SUV models will follow more variants on the same MMA platform.
