MINI Paul Smith Edition debuts with exclusive colors

After the 1998 MINI Paul Smith Edition, fans had to wait until 2021 for another collaboration. This year, the Oxford-based automaker and the British fashion designer reunited for STRIP, a one-off Cooper SE. The partnership continued in 2022 with another unique car, the RECHARGED, although neither car was available for purchase.

Now all is forgiven as the MINI Paul Smith Edition makes its debut at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show. This time it’s one you can actually buy. Better yet, it’s available on all three body styles: three- and five-door, as well as the convertible. Customers can choose between combustion engines and electric drives. However, the sporty John Cooper Works variant didn’t make it.

As a nod to the past, the MINI Paul Smith Edition can be ordered in Statement Gray, reminiscent of the 1959 Mini Austin Seven. Alternatively, Inspired White pays homage to the Classic Mini Beige. The two exclusive colors are joined by the well-known Midnight Black from the current MINI range.

The roof, decorated in Nottingham Green in honor of Paul Smith’s hometown, is reflected in the side mirror caps, wheel center caps and grille outline. Buyers can also opt for a darker roof with multiple stripes in various matte and gloss tones of Jet Black.

The closer you look, the more details you discover. The designer’s iconic stripe motif appears discreetly on the driver’s side of the roof. The MINI logos are in black-blue and Paul Smith’s signature adorns the rear horizontal trim strip.

Inside, the design is restrained yet sophisticated. The dashboard is wrapped in authentic Paul Smith brand striped fabric and the lower spoke of the steering wheel features the same signature motif. Knitted textiles emphasize the seat shoulders and headrests.

Even the infotainment system gets a special treatment with three bespoke Paul Smith backgrounds. Other bespoke details include handwritten “Hello” light projections that appear when the doors are opened. Smith’s motto “Every day is a new beginning” is written on the door sills and there is even a hand-drawn bunny motif on the doormats.

The MINI Paul Smith Edition will be on display at the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo until November 9th.
