New BMW X7 gives Spy Video debut

Although we have reported a second generation X7 since mid -2023, BMW only confirmed this in early May. By chance, the first pictures of a camouflaged prototype sent us on the same day. The “G67” is now back, this time in a video that is shot somewhere in sunny Spain. The three-in-line luxobarge remains heavily disguised because its world premiere is still far away.

Despite the bulky camouflage, some interesting details stand out. The door handles are integrated into the belt, for example, similar to the skytop and speedtop. The first regular production of BMW with this setup will be X5 (G65) next year. The small winglets along the pages were first seen on the Vision Nee Class X concept to clean up the body for a more smooth profile last year.

The headlights look strange on the front because the prototype uses a temporary setup. BMW is currently assembling the daily runs together with the main units, but could select a different arrangement for the production of production. Early prototypes of the 7 Series (G70) and in the upcoming facelift, all lighting functions were also summarized, later the test vehicles separated the DRLs and installed them above. The second generation X7 will probably follow the same pattern.

The large grille is still available. This is no surprise because the kidneys have to remain considerable in order to meet the size of the X7. We suspect that the G67 could be even larger than the current G07, although the camouflage could overdo its proportions. In the rear area, the lack of visible exhaust gas tips indicates that BMW tests a standard model. The prototype discovered at the beginning of this year seemed to be a hotter version, possibly the X7 M70 XDrive. In the future, only M-Performance and Full-M models will receive a quad-sex setup.

We had hoped that BMW could take information from rivals and hide the rear windshield wiper under the roof spoiler, but that is not the case. The new X7 clearly uses temporary taillights and can hide a light rod on the tailgate. Expect that some NEE -class design influences on the Bayern flagship -SUV will go in the way.

Suppose the next generation X7 is not your thing. In this case, the rest of the spy videos are packed with other BMW prototypes: the new 3 Series sedan (G50) in M350 Guise and in a lower configuration, the IX3 (NA5) Electric Crossover, the X5 M70 (G65) and a scanned 5 series -Sedan (G60).

The video reminds of how busy the next few years will be. BMW will use around 40 new or updated models by the end of 2027. The product rush starts next month with the world premiere of the new IX3 at the IAA Mobility Show in Munich.
