The 4.4-liter V8 with two turbochargers, paired with a hybrid engine, creates an amazing performance of 717 hp and 738 LB-FT torque. On paper, this is an absurd amount of power for a car, but it turns out that the M5 touring needs everything. Nevertheless, physics has its limits. While we could not test this example for pre-production on a route, our time with an M5 sedan in the South Carolina Performance Center from BMW revealed a car that is exceptionally large for its size.
If the pace accelerates, there is no elephant in the room. But it may be difficult to recognize for most. We found that the touring dances dance well in curved corners, the tight rhythm of the switch reveals a car that was set to provide precision (if not true feedback) that creates trust that the best M cars always were delivered.
Interior: familiar M -Luxus with a change of car
Inside, the M5 touring is just as luxurious and technically packed as the sibling of the limousine. At 121,500 US dollars, you would expect that it would deliver as much as a sports limousine as a luxury car. And in our short time we can confirm that this is the case. The extensive tailgate of the car and the lower load height (compared to the X5) make it easier to use, regardless of whether you load the suitcase or put the track day equipment.

The 2025 BMW M5 Touring is a car fascinating. It is excitingly fast and yet undeniable. It is practical and yet lenient. It bears the badge of a driving icon while balancing innovations with compromises.
