As a rule, we link frozen paintwork with M-cars or BMW models such as the 7 Series. However, this 5 is not. A new photo shoot offers us a rare opportunity to see a diesel “G60” that spoils itself with individual treats. In addition to the matt portimao-blue color, it receives 21-inch aero wheels and Silverstone II/Atlas Gray leather cushion.
Insert the M Sport package professional shown here and you will see a diesel -5 series with a price of over € 90,000 in Germany. This 540D XDRIVE is also supplied with a head-up display, carbon fiber cladding, parasols and other extras that press the price even higher. It is a lot of money for a car that is not the no longer existing Quad Turbo M550D, let alone an M5, but that is the reality of 2025, since everything is expensive.
It is unusual to see such a plentiful BMW with a diesel engine. Europe is the last bastion of this drive train, but official figures show that it fades slowly. After European Automobile Manufacturer Association (ACEA)In the first eight months of the year, Diesel made only 8.3% of sales in the EU, Great Britain and EFTA in the first eight months of the year. The latter, the European Free Trade Association, includes Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.

Nevertheless, BMW is not ready to give up diesel. The recently announced X5 G65, which is due in 2026, will continue to offer an oil burner. This indicates that the B57 has been revised to meet the upcoming Euro 7 regulations. If so, it should remain in the line -up in the coming years. It would only make sense for the next X7 (G67), which is expected in 2027 to show it.
As for the 5, it will probably keep the 3.0-liter diesel until the end of its life cycle. So far, BMW has remained true to its motto “Power of Choice” and offers everything from a diesel -1 series to a hybrid XM. However, we still miss an M Performance 5 series with a combustion engine. It remains unclear whether the rumored M560E actually takes place.
If you are fed up with the design a little more than two years after the debut of the car, the facelift could bring a radical change. The G60 is due with a medium -sized facelifting with cars from July 2027. From this point on, the 5 Series will take over the fresh design language, which is led by the return of new class pioneering work. Our espionage recordings of a camouflaged prototype give us an indication of what await us.
