Still the coolest scooter on the street

When the BMW CE 04 came onto the market in 2021, it was difficult to believe that it was real. It looked like a science fiction film requisite, stretched and apologetically futuristic. This was not just another commuter scooter; It was BMW Motorrad’s vision of urban mobility. And somehow there have been four years. The CE 04 receives a few thoughtful updates for 2025, and thankfully remains its brave design intact.

This time there are no mechanical changes, but BMW gives buyers more opportunities to personalize their electrical journey – with three new equipment variants, fresh colors and some surprisingly useful functions.

Same electrical performance, new personality

The heart of the CE 04 has not changed – and that’s not a bad thing. A permanent magnet electric motor is still hidden between the frame and the rear wheel and 42 hp is emitted. If that sounds like overkill for a scooter, just wait until you twist the gas cover. In 2.6 seconds it will hit 50 km/h (approx. 31 miles per hour), which makes it feel more like a quiet street weapon than an average city run.

There is also a version with a lower output with 31 HP for A1 license holders, but both versions over 75 miles per hour. This is more than enough for most urban and suburban roads.

In terms of range, BMW quotes up to 130 kilometers (81 miles) on a full load with the standard battery. Put it into a wall plug and you will see 4 hours and 20 minutes to get a complete recharge. However, if you have access to a 6.9 kW charger, you can be traveling again in just 1 hour and 40 minutes-or 45 minutes if you only need a quick charge of 80 percent.

Three equipment, three moods

What is new for 2025 is the choice. BMW now offers the CE 04 in three coolers: Basic, avant -garde and exclusive.

  • The base Is clean and reserved, with a light body, a black/gray seat and a clear windshield. It is the factual option-far from being boring.
  • The avant -garde Choose things with the gravity blue -matte color, Sao Paulo Yellow Accents and a tinted yellow windshield. There is even a laser -engraved rear wheel. It is a statement piece, no question.
  • The exclusive The trim goes in a more elegant direction with space silver color, a larger windshield with integrated handwers as well as heated handles and seats. The seat is also embroidered CE 04 branding, which is a nice gesture.

More technology than most cars

BMW motorcycle did not hold back the technology either. Each CE 04 has a crunchy 10.25-inch TFT color display, with which full image navigation cards can now be displayed-no additional mountain or telephone app. This is a premiere for the model and a great victory for user -friendliness.

The lighting is only guided, with special animations “welcome” and “goodbye” when you switch it on or off. The drivers also receive three standard drive modes – ECO, rain and road – with a fourth (dynamic) decision as an option. You can also specify the automatic stability control (ASC) and the dynamic traction control (DTC) from BMW, which are more common than scooters in large motorcycles.

Practicality was not forgotten. There is a priority memory cubby and a side subject in which a helmet is included – and yes, you can open it while sitting. A USB-C connection makes it easier to charge your phone on the go, and the larger windshield from the exclusive cladding is also available as an option for the other models.

Still a leader in his class

The CE 04 has already become the best-selling scooter in its power class (over 11 kW), and with these updates, BMW wants to keep this title clearly. It still feels like nothing else on the street and it still turns the heads wherever possible.

Production continues in Berlin, in the same facility in which BMW builds its motorcycles. The US price design starts at $ 12,390, but let’s be honest -use some options such as heated handles, this larger display or a short charger and you are closer to $ 14,000 or beyond.
