Best of the E21: 320i with a sports package

The E21 is the first 3 and successor to the OG BMW 02 series and set a new benchmark for sports sedans. No version did better than the original “IS” rim, the 320is or, as it was called in the period, the “320i with a sports package”. The E21 320i with a sports package received a five-speed manual instead of the four-speed unit of the regular 320i model and added a limit slip differential. His new sportiness was highlighted by special recaro seats, a sportier suspension setup, unique light metal wheels, a sliding roof, fog lights and a steering wheel with three spokes. The 1.8-liter four-cylinder under the bonnet remained relatively tame with only 101 hp.
Best of the E30: 318is

In the E30 3 series, the formal introduction of the “Is” badge was on the way to the back of some real gemstones: The 318is and 325is. While the 325is offered significantly more power from its inline-Six engine, the 318is delivers more power and is a little lighter than the 325is. Note: You can’t go wrong either. However, the 318is merchant calls the “Baby M3” when the E30 M3 also announced a four-potter-there was a whole series of upgrades about regular 318i. Fainter rollers, athletic suspension as a whole, a hot engine with more electricity and torque and a handful of other extras – and continue – the 318is of one of the best BMWs ever.
Best of the E36: 328is

On the US market, the 328is continued the tradition of the “IS” regulation of the Budget -M3 alternative. Unlike the E30, the E36 3 series added no special, exclusive functions to the 328is. The “IS” simply meant that the car was a coupé. The 328is is unchanged from the limousine model, and is still an absolute explosion to own and drive it and only offers shy M3 performance for considerably less money. Especially in the USA, where the M52 in these cars and the S50/S52 engine under the hood of the modern M3 are only separated by about thirty hp.
Best of the E46: 330i ZHP

BMW introduced the option code “ZHP” or the performance package in the E46 3 series. In contrast to former “IS” port names, you could use the ZHP: limousines, coupé, convertible. What you got was a steering wheel wrapped in Alcantara, hotter cams, which achieved a 10-hP over regular 330i models, unique 18-inch wheels, a revised suspension setup and a unique front fascia. Today ZHP cars transact at a much higher price than non-ZHP cars, mainly because of these small changes, which results in a country mile to the best E46-3 series of the E46-3 series. We will express it as follows: You have received the resale of your money if you have built up the additional $ 3900 in period for a ZHP car. Today’s E46-ZHP cars were an extraordinary balance between less committed basic errors and the radical and expensive E46 M3 in the period.
Best of the E90: 335is

I just romped around the 335is a few weeks ago, but it is never enough. The 335is came in Coupé or Cabrio Guise and crashed into a higher starting version of the Twin Turbo N54 engine. The progression of the 335is also provided you with a bad, fast DCT transmission instead of the normal old car box. Special interior design such as gray -faced and closed measuring devices joined exclusive extras such as unique bikes and a rear diffuser to make the 335is look as good as it drives. The last of the hydraulic servo chicken cars is known that the 335is are actually the greatest 3 of all time. But I dismissed.
Best of the F30: 340i ZHP

Often forgotten, but BMW has brought the performance package (ZHP) back for the F30 Generation 3 3 Series. Simply referred to as a “ZHP” on the sticker and powerful almost 7,000 US dollars costs, it is not quite The bargain of the original ZHP was. It included the Power and Sound Kit and a performance exhaust, the power supply to 355 hp and £ 370. Production was limited to only 100 units and only limited in Melbourne Red, Alpine White and Black Sapphire Metallic. The most important thing may be that the F30 ZHP has won a limited slip differential; At that time you can insert it the only series model (ie non-M). I only have an automatic dangers – manuals are rare, but exist – and it turned out that the LSD was missing exactly what was missing from the F30. The other additions are simply an icing on an already decadent cake.
Best from the G20: M340i

The G20 3 series has not yet received any special editions, but the M340i (and my personal favorite, the M340i XDrive, which I wrote a long -term rating) is pretty good as IS. The wonderful B58 – in the latest models, which are now an incorrigible performance of 386 hp – is the ideal balance between fuel efficiency and performance. It sounds good too. And thanks to a range that Goodies offered in the cooling and high -performance tire package, you can still get quite close to ZHP size today. That means: where the hell is our G20 ZHP?! Maybe the best will come.
