The BMW M3 is a name that for many of us accepted the mythical status. It is a synonym for precision, balance and above all performance. But there is a seismic shift for the M3, which makes it quieter, cleaner and much faster. And today we take our first look at the first electrical BMW M3.
In contrast, the electrical BMW M3 will apply to a BMW process
The debut in 2027, the electrical M3 code leather, represented the first purely electrical offer from BMW M GmbH. No, we do not count the confusingly named and marked M performance products. The ZA0 M3 will be a full car. This electric M3 is built on the latest NEE class platform and is not just retrofitting the existing G80 chassis. It is a federal rethinking what an M-car can be in a world of growing emission regulations.

We want to stay with the biggest fans of our vehicles in the future.
Dirk Häcker, development manager at BMW M GmbH
However, if the purists are concerned, BMW seems to be unfair. In our conversations with M engineers, they work on performance that seem to be possible a decade ago.

Under the hood or more under the floor, you will find a collection of high-performance batteries of the next generation, which are designed for the maximum output. The basic version of this electrical M3 is expected to deliver around 670 Blow the horsepower and the current M3 competition XDRIVE. But that’s just the starter. Future variants could overdo the envelope over 1,000 hp and rely on experimental quad engine setups that BMW has been teasing for years. Yes, you read it correctly: four engines, one on every bike that unlock the functions of the torque vector, of which no burn could dream of.

The heart of joy – the center of everything
The Electric M3 uses the new class architecture from BMW, a modular platform that thinks as flexibly as it is to the front. BMW will present the new class I3 sedan by 2026, and it is the basics of this car that the M3 EV will share. Imagine this as a foundation, but do not confuse it with the mere scaffold. In the new class, BMW transports its most advanced technologies, from light battery to a supercomputer “Heart of Joy”, which is designed for the immense arithmetic requirements of modern electrical drive strands.
This is the most exciting piece of technology in the NEE class-class the integrated all-wheel drive system of the car and the demanding driving dynamics control of the car, to name two. The result? BMW promises power supply and performance, which are both brutally efficient and stunningly precise. You will feel it from the line in the immediate torque, but also in the way the car dances through corners and gradually exceeds or maybe even the balance of its inner ancestors.

Design: Where the past meets the future
Of course, no M3 is complete without the visual drama to meet its performance. Early prototypes of the Electric M3 indicate a body that is based on the NEE class vision concept, which was revealed for the first time anesthetic crowd in 2023. The design combines BMW’s future “phygitale” aesthetics (think of illuminated kidney grilles and slimmer, laser light)) with traditional M earners such as fenders on display, wide wheel boxes and an excessive aggressive posture.
The result is a car that looks as futuristic as it drives, but one that unmistakably M. forgets Tesla’s minimalist blow or Porsche Taycans slim subtleties. While it is still early, the M3 EV looks courageous, muscular and full of character that feels a unique BMW.
Inside, the cabin is expected to include the All New Idrive X operating system from BMW together with the panorama sequence projected onto the windshield. Expect a driver-centered layout with an extended augmented reality hud display and a high-fitting user interface.

Performance that defines an era
The electrical M3 is not just about raw numbers – it is an opportunity for M to rethink the performance of the electrical age. As you can see in the video above, BMW M engineers have spent countless hours of refining the chassis balance and the steering feeling to ensure that this car does not lose the essence of what makes an M3 an M3. They also experimented with advanced regenerative brake systems in order to enable aggressive energy recreation without affecting the natural braking pedal feeling that the drivers are demanding.
But the real trick in the M3 EV sleeve are its adaptive drive train modes. In a configuration, it can imitate the antics of a classic M3 in the rear wheel drive and offer the over -tax -heavy thrills, for the enthusiastic longing. Switch to another mode and the all -wheel drive system comes to life and delivers maximum handles and stunning acceleration. It is a car that can shape and adapts to the street or mood that you throw on it.

A new era bwm m: soon comes
The BMW M3 ZA0 will probably be debut in the late 2026 or early 2027 with a production this year. Finally, we expect BMW to publish a Touring version of the new M3 EV together with X3M and X4M EVS.
But the M3 combustion is not dead. In fact, another generation becomes the G84. Due to a very refreshing G80 with a look directly from the ZA0.
