The Mercedes-AMG GT XX is a tri-motor-electric super sedan

The Archrival of BMW, Mercedes, finally takes seriously with the introduction of dedicated AMG Electric models. Before the first production vehicle covers, a wild concept offers an insight into what will come. The GT XX is a Swoopy limousine that essentially differs from the current Affalterbach offers. It applies to a rear window and uses a slim, coupé-like profile, but with the additional practical practicality of the rear doors.

Although the styling is thoroughly modern and even futuristic, the striking orange paint of the GT XX reminds us of the experimental test car from C111 from the 1970s. The circular taillights also cause these radical prototypes, but the spectacular Gullwing doors unfortunately belong to the past. Although it was classified as a concept, it is probably not far from the possible production model. The Rakian profile and its small greenhouse are even more dramatic than that of a Porsche Taycan.

Inside, the cabin, the drivers and the passengers in a racing car -like ambience with body -hugging front seats. Mercedes borrowed the steering wheel from its F1 engine AMG One Hypercar and installed a dual display setup. The instrument cluster measures 10.25 inches, while the touchscreen includes a larger 14-inch diagonal. Illuminated orange pipes emphasize the exposed body structure, although we doubt that they make it to production.

While the C111 prototypes from half a century ago with everything experimented half a century ago, from Rotary engines to diesel engines, this new concept leaves internal combustion. Instead, it has a tri-engine setup with axial river engines that were developed in collaboration with the British electric motor specialist Yasa, a subsidiary of Mercedes, which has been obsessed since 2021.

With more than 1,341 horsepower in the barrel, the AMG GT XX is one of the most powerful four -door EVs that have ever been built. It is also one of the fastest and exceeds 359 km/h over 223 miles per hour. Two engines drive the rear axle, while a third gives the front with the family -friendly super sports car a layout for all -wheel drive. If additional traction is not needed, the front engine decouples so that the car can behave like a vehicle with a rear wheel drive.

Mercedes claims that the car receives about 400 kilometers of WLTP Range after only five minutes. The performance comes from a brand new battery that was developed in cooperation with the Formula 1 team. It has a completely new layout with cylindrical cells and NCMA chemistry (nickel, cobalt, manganese, aluminum). The system works at over 800 volts and supports a peak output of more than 850 kW.

With a remarkably low air resistance coefficient of only 0.198, this slim limousine debut the AMG.EA architecture, which minimizes the weight penalty of a large battery. Engineers optimized the structure with a mixture of aluminum, steel and fiber composite materials, although they did not reveal the curb’s weight weight. The production version replaces a gasoline model. In particular, the AMG GT 4-door coupĂ© with its inline six and V8 engines.

After the limousine’s debut, a large AMG Electric SUV will soon join the line -up. BMW M also does not sit idle because this decade fully electrical M models are due. The cargo is a hot EV that resembles the M3 and arrives in 2027. Like the AMG electric cars, the new EVs of BMW M cylindrical batteries will also take on.
