A month until the next cover of the next IX3 “Na5” it is no surprise that further details will appear over unofficial sources. BMW has already confirmed that the first version of its next electric crossover will be sold as 50 XDrive. We now hear that the dual engine setup delivers a combined 463 hp and 645 Nm (476 LB-FT) torque.
A reliable insider from the Bimmer Post Forums have uncovered these numbers with access to internal BMW databases. The output is significantly higher than that of the outgoing IX3, but that is hardly unexpected. The first generation model was strict in the rear wheel drive and only had one engine. The probability is that the new class based EV offers a broader line -up, possibly also a single motor configuration.
Previously, the same source revealed output numbers for the Gen6 Motors, which had recently entered series production in Steyr. The front unit is said to produce 165 hp and 255 Nm (188 LB-FT), while the rear engine allegedly produces 322 hp and 435 Nm (321 LB-FT). It is believed that the new IX3 can offer an output of 228 hp for more than half an hour.

In its initial 50 XDRIVE figure, the second generation IX3 is said to sprint from a standstill in just 4.9 seconds 100 km/h. Flat, it becomes 130 km/h (130 km/h). For those who are looking for more power, an M60 XDRIVE is expected with around 620 to 630 hp. Not only that, but a full M variant under the code name “ZA5” is possible.
While the standard -ix3 will be officially announced on September 5 at the IAA mobility show in Munich, an M performance model will probably only arrive at some point in 2026. A real M version is not expected before 2027, or so we heard.
Whatever BMW has for the IX3 in stock is probably transferred to the i3. The limousine was confirmed for production at the Munich plant next year. It is also planned to be a complete M derivative, but not before 2027. Bavaria will expand the portfolio with an i3 tour and an IX4, which is supposed to receive the M -Performance and M variants later this decade.
