This Alpina B12 5.7 Coupé is the top value of the 1990s BMW

BMW was almost a full M8 in the E31 era, but the original 8er maximized with the 850 csi. Or does it have it? For those who only wanted the best, Alpina provided the ultimate iteration of the luxury grass tourer. About 33 years after its start, the B12 5.7 Coupé is still one of the fastest cars in Buchloe, which rose at 300 km/h (186 miles per hour).

Alpina now shows the B12 5.7 Coupé, one of only 57 cars that were produced between 1992 and 1996. It was previously referred to as “Road Rocket” because it became the company’s first model to smash the 300 km/h barrier. Based on the BMW 850 CSI, the crown jewel of the E31 line had the expulsion of the V12 engine to 5.7 liters. The power package produced an additional 36 hp above the donor car and delivered a fleshy 416 hp.

Under the carbon fiber hood there is an improved S70 engine, which is located with ventilation slots and Naca channel. The twelve-cylinder monster was massaged to deliver 570 Newton meters (420 pound foot) torque, an increase of 20 Nm (15 LB-FT) compared to the standard of 850 csi. Alpina modified the recording, crankshaft, camshafts and also modified its own stainless steel exhaust gas and metal catalytic converter.

Although it had retained the original GEBEPH trade with six-speed, it also contained an optional switching-controlled electronic coupling management. It was actually the only car that the company sold with this system. Further changes included larger 18-inch wheels with the timeless 20-spoke design, which was wrapped in 245/40 front and 285/35 rear tires. Compared to the 850 CSI, the B12 5.7 Coupé was a bit lower at the front, with the kind permission of New Springs.

Fast lead by 2025, and there is an 8-man with Alpina Gestadter, but it is hardly so desirable. In addition, the B8 Gran Coupé is not long for this world. Why? BMW is allegedly about to pull the plug in the entire 8 -series line -up, which could be triggered in 2026. Some versions are already confronted with extinction this year.

However, the exciting times for Alpina, which is now under the roof of the BMW Group Corporate. We hear that the B7 comes back with the 7 Series Facelift. The next generation X7 will receive the XB7 treatment again. To dismay purists, electrical alpinas are more of a question and not about it than if. Until then, enthusiasts can sunbathe from the good old days in the glory of this wonderful V12.
