Audi is working on a mid-cycle update for its A3 lineup, and that means fiest models like the S3 and RS 3 are set to get some updates too.
Our latest spy footage shows a prototype for the updated S3, which is expected to arrive late this year or early next year alongside the updated version of the regular A3. We should see the cars arriving at dealerships as 2025 models.
The prototype reveals new designs for the interior of the lights at both ends, plus a new grille and new front and rear fascias. We know this prototype is for the S3 because the upgraded brake package features a clearly visible “S” on the calipers. There are also quad exhausts in the rear, which is the traditional design for Audi’s S cars.
There will likely be some minor upgrades in the cabin too, including possibly a larger screen for the infotainment system. The current screen has a size of 12.3 inches.

It’s unclear if any changes are planned in the powertrain department. The S3 is currently offered with a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4 with 306 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and lets the S3 sprint from standstill to 60mph in 4.5 seconds.
Buyers looking for more power can opt for the RS 3, which offers a 2.5-liter turbocharged 5 with 401 hp and 369 lb-ft on tap. Both the S3 and the RS 3 come standard with all-wheel drive.

The latest A3 range, which represents the fourth generation of the nameplate, is based on an updated version of the Volkswagen Group’s front-wheel drive modular MQB platform. It’s basically an under-the-skin twin with the latest Volkswagen Golf, which is due to be updated around the same time as the Audi. We also have spy footage of the updated Golf.
Stay tuned for updates as development progresses.
