Lamborghini Countach with 155 miles, original tires up for auction

Imagine buying a brand new Lamborghini, parking it and then not driving it for decades.

That’s essentially what the owner, or owners in this case, of this 1990 Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary Edition did. (It’s also happened to a McLaren F1, which seems even crazier.)

The car with the chassis number ZA9CA05A7LLA12718 has just 249 kilometers on the clock. It also has its original Pirelli P Zero tires which are now too dangerous to drive on at high speed.

Mileage is a little more than delivery miles, according to a listing at auction house RM Sotheby’s, which will put the car up for auction on Jan. 26 in Phoenix, Arizona, showing an original bill of sale. The car was built in 1990 at just 138 kilometers (82 miles) delivered to its first owner. The price paid was $275,000.

This first owner kept the car for 17 years during which only 13 kilometers (8 miles) were added. It was returned to its original dealer in 2007, in this case Clark Motor Company of Heath, Ohio, and was later kept in a collection between 2010 and 2020, only making short trips to keep everything running. The current seller bought it in 2020.

Given the remarkable condition and low mileage, perhaps the lowest of any Countach, the car is sure to attract plenty of attention at its upcoming sale. RM Sotheby’s has put the final bid at between $750,000 and $1 million.

The 25th Anniversary Edition, as the name suggests, was built to celebrate 25 years of Lamborghini. It is characterized by its unique spoilers and modified air intakes, some of which were designed by Horacio Pagani, Pagani CEO and founder, when he was still working for Lamborghini.

Power comes from a 5.2-liter V-12 that produces 455 horsepower and can propel the car to a top speed of 183 mph. The tires fitted were the widest ever used on a production car at 225/50 front and 345/35 rear.
