Porsche has turned his former entry-level carrera into a sports car that channeling the ghost of the GT3 at a lower price. With a six-speed manual transmission, the driving pleasure is unlimited-so much, it is also the costs.
This is marketing from the best. Porsche knows how to stretch the model area of your legendary 911 like no other. The Carrera T positioned between Carrera and Carrera S takes up styling and performance notices of high-level models such as GT3 and GTS. Understanding the broad 911 line-up is not an easy task hier, turbo there, sometimes all-wheel drive, sometimes not. However, the Carrera T is a particularly tempting option for purists.
Carrera T inspired – albeit loose – through the original 911 tour of the late 1960s and is a focused sports version with immense attraction. At a starting price of € 142,000, buyers receive 20-/21-inch wheels, a rear-axle steering, a sports chrono package, a sports exhaust and a six-speed manual. There are even treacherous signs that show that it is a real manual, including labels and trimmer. Oddly enough, the Gear button is made in a cheap plastic boots in art wood – an unusual choice for such a modern machine.
Nevertheless, this does not affect its brilliance on the street. The 3.0-liter twin turbo flat-SIX produces 290 kW (394 hp) and 450 Nm torque, making the Carrera an exciting drive. With a top speed of 295 km/h, it is certainly not a slouch, but this car is built for winding roads, not for highway. The manual gearbox works harmoniously with the steering and the fat 305 section rear tire to offer an appealing, communicative handling.

Forget the gimmicks like manual badges or retro equipment. This car is about the feeling of really having control. Sure, the PDK would be faster and more efficient, but the joy of rowing manually through Gears is unsurpassed – and refreshingly analogous in today’s digital world.
With a weight of 40 kilograms less than standard thanks to light windows, panels and the manual box, the Carrera T cannot impress on paper – but it feeds in motion. From € 141,700 it is not a bargain, but for those who understand the essence of driving, it is worth every penny. Expect that this “Mini-GT3” is the envy of every parking space.
