We were recently invited to Nissan’s Farmington Hills, Michigan Tech Center, to see the new 2025 Nissan Armada. For this model, Nissan combined the Armada platform with which the Nissan Patrol, which was only available in the Middle East, should give them an indication of its new off-road capabilities. New from scratch, both the Armada and the patrol, benefit from new technologies, new design and new comfort functions. The underlying premise for the design and its concept was “unbreakable prestige”.
The exterior has changed a little. While it keeps its off-road lookguy look, there is a new sophistication and refinement of the design. It appears cleaner. Smooth. The front is dominated by a large radiator grille that quickly returns to the flanked sides and large feces. The belt is high and gives the Armada a high bold, square look. The floating roof “replaced” by the main body also directs the solidity of the main body to attention. After all, the bikes are large and classified so that they fill the bike fountain. This also helps with the stability of the design and reinforces the size and overall strength of the visual strength. The rear windshield wiper as on the new Murano is out of sight under the rear overhang. Clean.
Inside you will find leather. Lots of leather. All rich and well sewn in beautiful colors and shapes that look inviting and comfortable. There is so much new in the interior, I’m not sure where to start. Since so much depends on the equipment, we start there. There are five equipment variants on the Armada: the entry-level SV level; The SL with medium class; the luxurious platinum; The off-road-focused Pro-4x; And the platinum reserve that combines the luxury of the platinum with the off-road capabilities of the Pro-4x. The higher the equipment, the more delicacies you get. Heated leather seats are on the SL and ventilated by default, ventilated steady leather seats or on the platinum -up by default. You can even get massage seats in the platinum reserve. Amazon Alexa is her digital assistant and wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto Come standard.
The rear two rows of seats fold flat. There are also another 25% of the square behind the 3rd row.
In a class management, the Armada has a so -called “biometric cooling”. Standard for the platinum, platinum reserve and optionally on the Pro-4x system, the system captures people who are warmer than a certain specific temperature and direct the seat air to seat air. For example, let’s assume that you get a child from football practice and you are hot and sweaty, but the other two children are not. The system will recognize that they are hotter than normal and cooling air on hot child. Conspery trick.
On the middle SL and above, a 600 W Klipsch 12-channel audio system for 12-channel 12 channel is standard … and it just sounds incredible. Nissan brought us to the Royal Recording Studio to demonstrate what the system was capable of, and let’s just say we were blown away. If you remember the old ones, “Is it alive or memorex?” Display with the guy in the oversized chair that is knocked off by the sound, you get an idea of how impressive it is because it was difficult to be realized by real. The Klipsch system is built in connection with Panasonic and is brilliantly clean and crispy even under high volume and maximum density music. Designed by people who love music for people who love music.
From the SL promotion from the middle level, Armada is also equipped with Nissan’s propilot assist 1.1, which is a practical cruise control function that keeps it on your trail and is slow when traffic is stopped, and then the speed Receptive, as is permitted from the removal you have placed on the car in front of you. Propilot Assist 2.1 is also an option for these models. Version 2.1 enables driving with the hand -free single -track.
In the dashboard there is a new digital two-screen layout with measuring devices and instruments on the left screen and infotainment on the right screen. While slower maneuvers can combine both screens to show you exactly where your armada is placed, and can even “see through” through the bonnet to see things that you cannot see from the driver’s seat. Very cool technology.
The V8 has disappeared under this immense hood. In its place there is a variation of the VR35 24-valve direct injection 3.5 l Twin turbo V6. Sounds familiar? It is the same engine that supplies the legendary GT-R, although it is reproduced for this family tractor. It makes 425 hp and 516 LB-FT or torque and turns to 6000 rpm. This is a 25 hp and a whopping 103 LB-FT increase in the last armada. Despite the almost 3-ton brick weight, the VR35 makes the gas very quickly and moves the SUV with ease and grace. It is enthusiastic about a conventional 9-speed automatic (W reaction-fast paddle slide), which are either sent to the rear wheels or to the 4WD system from Nissan. It proved to be certain over the packed snow and ice cream that we had met while driving. It has a drag capacity of 8,500 LB.
13.78-inch brake discs are slowed down all around, with two-piston brake calipers snap in the foreground and pack individual piston brake calipers backwards. The brakes felt good. Nothing extraordinary. They were very linear and reacted intuitively.
The three lower equipment levels (SV, SL, Platinum) are equipped with standard coil springs and shock absorbers. The Pro-4x and Platinum reserve are equipped with air springs and shock absorbers. The air springs on the upper equipment variants enable the Armada to collect 2 inches for off -road cleanance and to fall better aerodynamics and efficiency on the highway. It also falls that it makes it easier for the shorter people to mix in and out. We could only try the air shock-equipped armada and the trip was fantastic. You still feel bumps, but they are not hard. They only know that the street was bad, but they are not affected. The steering is electrical and works completely well – very intuitive and invisible.
The cabin also seemed remarkably quiet. Wind and tire noises were minimal and made it possible for the Klipsch stereo system not to have to compete with ambient noises. The seats were Nissan’s Zull -Schwerkraft pillow that are super comfortable for long trips. A member of our crew had a merged vertebrae and suffered from long journeys, but reported that he felt good after almost three hours of driving.
The frame became 25% torsionally rigid and 57% steering and is built in such a way that it is tortured. With the new Pro-4x equipment advantage, Nissan wants the buyers to do exactly that. With skid plates that protect the oil pan, the transmission and fuel tank; an electronic locking differential, adaptive electronic air suspension; And Intelligent 4WD is ready to pick up the Pro-4x where the old patrol stopped. With the complete suspension, it has 9.6 inch ground clearance, an approximation angle of 33 degrees, a 25.5-degree break angle and a departure angle of 24.5 degrees. From the inside, the driver can specify one of eight different drive modes: standard, eco, sport, tow, snow, sand, stone, mud/rut. The hill descent is installed in the chassis to enable a controlled descent. An interior information offer shows a inclination meter, a slip indicator and a steering angle display.
Although we tried nothing as gnarled as the Pro-4x trim is capable of, we enjoyed its luxurious properties, its smooth ride and its fantastic sound system. I admit that I am more interested in the Murano, it is a smaller lighter SUV (my preference), but I left a lot more impressed by the Armada. What sore at the pricing ….
