Lamborghini also becomes electrically – constantly from step and intentionally slow. The striking debutant is called Lanzador and will not come onto the market until 2028. We have already recorded the first prototype for a spin.
The fan community’s feedback after the world premiere of the Lamborghini Lanzador was clear: thundering applause. Similar to the Urus study, Lamborghini’s first electrical model was mainly celebrated for its design. But even if some interested parties about the Millionaire Enclave from Pebble Beach would have been too eager to get cash and prepare electronic transfer forms, it will take some time – almost five years to be precise before the car becomes a motor reality as the first full electrical model of Lamborghini. There is enough time to dream and develop and now is the right time to fit the first kilometers on your impressive 23-inch wheels. Where can you do this better than on the legendary 17-mile drive, the charismatic automotive promenade that clearly connects California and the Pacific?
Entry into the blue Lanzador is a slow and careful matter, as you have to make sure not to damage the one -time damage, especially since it rains on the coast of Monterey this morning. Shortly afterwards, Rouven Mohr, Chief Development Officer, points out that the prototype is missing a windshield wiper, the technicians around it are clearly nervous due to the unforeseen rain.
With an increase in the starter button on the futuristic center console, which separates the driver and the copilot in the chest height, the instruments are brought to life. If they didn’t know better, they would have no doubt that they were in a room slide from a distant galaxy. In contrast to his Big Brother Urus, the Lamborghini Lanzador will only have two doors despite its four individual seats. There is enough space in the back, but for most customers it will probably be a rarity. The interior of the crossover will be more sustainable than any other Lamborghini.

Details such as the dashboard, the seats and the door panels are made of fine merino wool, while the colored thread comes from recycled nylon. Most invisible plastics such as the foam of the sports seats consist of 3D printed recycled fibers. The fibers used for the center console and the door panels are also made of regenerated carbon-and-two, two-layer composite material.
Despite his focus on sustainability, Lamborghini still chooses leather. However, this leather is tanned sustainably, whereby water from olive oil production is used, which must be treated in sewage systems due to its high acid and antimicrobial effect. This remaining water can also be reused by chemical manufacturers for browning agents. Additional resources are saved by a newly developed 3D printing process for plastics, from which the seat foams are produced, among other things. The pressure material for the merged deposit modeling comes from recycled waste such as used plastic bottles and can be recycled again after its use. In the two display caves in front of the driver and the passenger, numbers and animations come alive when the colossus sets itself in motion almost tacitly.

The creaking and cracking noises are typical of such an early prototype that is more designed to collect applause to exhibition stages than to drive some spirited miles. The Lamborghini Lanzador with its bluish shimmering look can do both. After the accelerator pedal has been pushed further down, we drive towards Spanish bay, while the agitated Pacific seems to show his first enthusiasm for this northern Italian miracle. “Be careful when you control,” explains Rouven Mohr calmly, “it is a drive-by-wire system that is recalculated depending on the steering input. How to control you slowly.” Said and done.
The surgerer of the electrical drive becomes louder, the speedometer shows 40 km/h. Later in real operation, the planned edition of more than 1,000 kW/1,360 hp should enable top speeds 300 km/h. This is quite a pace for an electrical model that in 1993 enthused Madrid. After the next year, when all three current series are electrified as plug-in hybrids, the Lanzador will be the first purely electrical model of 2028 with a bull emblem. Shortly afterwards, the next generation of the electrical urus is likely to follow. “With the fourth model we open a new vehicle segment: that of the Ultra GT,” explains Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Lamborghini, “this offers customers an incomparable new Lamborghini driver’s experience thanks to the groundbreaking new technologies.”

On the 17-mile drive, the test person can only leisurely drive through various programs and functions within the framework of the futuristic-looking controller. Later in the production version, the different driving modes can vary, which means that the path is actively transferred more than a megawatts via the torque vectoring system. The performance takes place from a battery of around 100 kWh between the axes. The first performance data are currently specified in a requirement specification. A variable air clippering system with tail steering is set. “For us, electrification does not mean a restriction, but an intelligent opportunity to develop more performance, performance and drive ability,” explains Rouven Mohr.
The Lamborghini engineers are inserted into the customizable aerodynamics, since the elaborate air flow, in contrast to the sports car, is supposed to hide subtly behind body elements. Similar to Huracan and Aventador, the electrical SUV also receives aerodynamic modules that, depending on the driving program, speed and speed, offer either a maximum downforce or a minimal air resistance in order to generate more range. The prototype can already do this at the push of a button. The flexible aerodynamic system uses, among other things, the front air flap together with a movable splinter, which opens the brake cool channels and cooling fins as required to achieve optimal performance. Optically hidden slats deliver output without creating additional air resistance. Because despite all the might, the Lanzador must remain grounded. The same applies to Lamborghini fans. Do not be carried away because it will take a long time for the Lanzador to be available from the dealers – a long time.
