Chris Harris has cemented his reputation as one of the most respected and influential journalists of the last decade. From his groundbreaking and very quirky Chris Harris on Cars videos to his position as the only road tester with a dash of talent on BBC’s TopGear, Harris is entertaining and informative. It’s no secret that Chris loves Porsche, from owning a 993 GT to the incredible 997 GT3 4.0 to two 991.2 GT3 Touring (after the first crashed) Harris has an illustrious Porsche GT history. He was the first to say when his 992 GT3 Touring arrived that he would drive it for a while and sell either the 991 or the 992 Touring.
What we didn’t expect was that the sale came with some revelations about his less-than-ideal relationship with his Porsche dealership in Reading, UK. We’ll leave you to judge for yourself on the comments he’s made on Instagram, see post below, but we can’t deny his 992 Touring, painted in Paint To Sample Dark Sea Blue over red leather , looks fabulous. It’s for sale on the platform that Chris co-founded with Edward Lovett, Collecting Cars, and given the configuration and celebrity connection, we expect it to sell for big bucks.
The 4.0-liter six-cylinder boxer engine in the Touring was carried over from the GT3 R racing car, here it delivers 510 hp and 470 Nm of torque. Numerous other parts were carried over from Porsche’s GT race cars, including the double wishbone front suspension and the rear diffuser. The 992 GT3 Touring gets a unique logo on the boot lid grille that covers the engine.
