Mamma Mia! Ferrari admits on terrible touch buttons that offer retrofit steering wheel

Ferrari keys give a comeback and not only announced in a future model such as the 296 -Speciale and recently Amalfi, but also about a retrofitting program for existing cars. After years of feedback from owners and testers, Ferrari brings physical controls back in order to replace the splitting steering wheel keys.

The retrofitting will be available from September 2025 for SF90, 296 and Purosängue. According to Ferrari, the new hardware improves accuracy and user -friendliness, especially in demanding driving conditions.

The revised controls keep the Hallmark style from Ferrari, but now offer proper feedback and precision. Functions such as the indicators, wipers and the jet switch are defined. Touch Controls may have looked modern, but many drivers found them difficult to use without looking away from the street. In a 1,000 hp-PS hyper hybrid SF 90, this is more than just anger. The retrofitting reflects Ferrari’s commitment to experience, not just aesthetics.

The update is installed by Ferrari dealers and includes a complete steering package. The pricing still has to be confirmed, but Ferrari assures the customer that this will be an uncomplicated process. For a brand rooted in tradition, this is a rare case in which technology moves for better backwards. In a digital world, the modest button has proven to be irreplaceable. And now Ferrari listens.
