In 2022, South Florida’s Hurricane Ian wreaks havoc and catastrophic damage, not just to homes, but to some very special cars as well. Back then, images and video of a McLaren P1 broke through the internet when it was seen deep in a flooded garage before crashing through the garage door into an aggressive storm surge. The hypercar belonged to Ernie (@lambo9286) whose Rolls-Royce was also under 2-3 feet of water.
The 2014 McLaren P1 is making headlines again after being sold at a recent Copart auction, reportedly for $575,000. The buyer was none other than automotive YouTube influencer Tavarish, who took to Instagram to celebrate winning the auction. Tavarish is not afraid of major restoration jobs, having already rebuilt a badly damaged McLaren 675LT that had a cracked carbon hull. The P1 will be a more sophisticated design overall given the complexity and cost associated with the hybrid batteries. We wish him all the best and hope to see the P1 back on the road soon!
