Video: Toyota GR Yaris with 7-speed Sequential Gbox is a rocket!

The Toyota GR Yaris has been a sensational hit since its launch in 2020. A 1.6 liter turbocharged three cylinder engine developing 268hp and 370Nm makes it a popular hothatch in today’s market. Even better is the 6-speed iMT gearbox, an option for an automatic gearbox is not available and that makes it really special.

An Italian tuning company has decided to twist things a bit by fitting a 7-speed sequential manual gearbox into a street-legal GR Yaris, which is now one of the fastest GR Yaris in the world. Instead of the usual shift lever on the center tunnel, paddle shifters behind the steering wheel were chosen. The engine was completely forged with a Motec control unit that now handles the power management, we suspect an output of between 500 and 600 hp.

The sequential transmission is made by a company called X Shift and prices range from $10,000 to $15,000 depending on the options selected. Thanks to this new setup, the GR Yaris now sounds like a flat six when upshifting and downshifting.
