Mercedes is about to leave the hot hatch scene by hiring the AMG A35 and A45 models. However, BMW still believes that a compact five -door performance model makes sense in 2025, even if it looks like all of their neighbors want an SUV. Although it is not available in North America, the 1 series is a globetrotter, including its M -performance variant. The “F70” recently posed in South Africa in its M135 guise.
The right hand 1 Series shows its skyscrapers, one of several colors that are offered in South Africa. Those who are willing to deal with the adaptation can opt for individual colors such as Storm Bay or the mat frozen Portimao Blue. BMW installed the optional 19-inch wheels to improve the standard 18-inch set, which makes the M135 look more considerable.
It is difficult to miss the abundance of M logos: projects on the kidney grill, the engine cover and even on the floor on the door lights to promote what BMW calls the “most powerful letters in the world”. In the back area, the “35” digits are small enough so that the badge is confused with an “M1”. In addition, Florishes contain a “1” logo in the Hofmeister Knick and the usual Ms badge on the front fenders.

The M-topic continues inside, where the body-hugging front seats have an illuminated M logo in the integrated headrests and reflect the complete M models from BMW. In addition, the legendary three -colored seams appear on the dashboard and in the steering wheel, which also has a red brand from 12 noon. The surrounding lighting reflects the Signature Blue, Violet and the Red Scheme.
BMW wrapped the two-colored M sports seats in Perforated Venaneza, a concept of marketing for artificial leather. These new pictures show how much the 1 series and M135 have changed with the latest generation. The IDRIVE turntables and many physical controls on the center console have disappeared. The dashboard may now appear a little too done, but in the smartphone era there may be an all-screen layout that younger buyers are looking for.
In South Africa, BMW sells the M135 with an uncovering version of its B48 engine. The 2.0-liter petrol unit from Turboch has the full power of 312 hp. In comparison, the European version is laid with 296 hp due to stricter emission regulations. Conversely, the torque performance at 295 LB-FT (400 Nm) remains the same worldwide. The discrepancy of the horsepower applies to other compact M performance models: X1 M35i, X2 M35i and M235 Gran Coupé.
