2026 BMW IX3 prototypes spied on during the final track test: video

Not long until the new IX3 cover breaks. BMW will present the second generation of its electric frequency in early September. Internal “Na5”, it will be the main attraction of the brand at the IAA Mobility Show in Munich. Series production begins later this year in the new Debrecen plant in Hungary. In the meantime, the EV is finally tested.

New film material from the Nürburgring shows several IX3 prototypes that tackle the green hell at high speeds. The name may be familiar, but this new model practically does not share anything with the version built in China. Despite the heavy camouflage, it is clear that the electrical SUV looks radically different. It provides a new design language that progresses in 2024 from the new class X concept vision.

We liked what we had seen when the concept made their debut, so that the expectations for the production model are high. BMW has undertaken to simplify its design approach and to move towards Glatterer surfaces and clean lines. The IX3 will be the first model of the reborn new class -era, a design philosophy that spreads over the entire line -up. Petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles will apply this new aesthetics.

One of the prototypes discovered on the Nordschleife could be an M performance variant, measured by the larger wheels and a reduced suspension. We recently reported that BMW can introduce an IX3 M60 with a dual engine setup with an output of up to 630 hp. The engineers install cylindrical battery cells and increase in the WLTP cycle to 466-472 miles (466-472 miles). As soon as the IX3 ends up in North America, the EPA estimated numbers will probably be lower.

If SUVs are not her thing, a related i3 limousine, which is known internally as “NA0”, will be built in Munich in 2026. It follows the IX3 and was promoted with thinly camouflaged prototypes during the 105th general meeting of the BMW Group. Both models have newly designed minimalist interiors with fewer physical controls. Expect a large central touchscreen, a 3D head-up display and a panoramic shelter with full width with customizable sections.

BMW’s future begins with the new IX3, and we are there for it.
