BMW was one of the first western luxury car manufacturers that developed products specifically for the Chinese market. It started with long -wheel versions of its limousines and finally extended the treatment to crossings. While the X1 stretched its wheelbase in 2016, followed by the X5 in 2022, the X3 recently received the elongated formula.
China’s X3 even wears his own internal code name, G48 as a G45. We photographed the more spacious version of the luxury crossovers in Auto Shanghai this week. It is the largest vehicle in its segment with a wheelbase of 2975 mm (117.1 inches). That is more than the model available worldwide.
You can easily see that it is a larger vehicle due to the size of the rear doors. The total length now measures 4.865 mm (191.5 inches), almost as long as a third generation X5 (F15). But China’s X3 has more than just an increased footprint. It has surrounding lighting for the rear seats, which are equipped with thigh bird extensions. There is also a wireless charging bath between the rear seats. The seats themselves offer additional padding and a relaxed position for additional comfort.

BMW also sells the X3 in China with rear pillows, two-tone artificial leather and a crystal finish for selected controls, similar to the upgrade “craftsmanship” in the big boy X5 and X7. Customers can also choose a panorama glass roof with illuminated threads that imitate the pattern of the kidney grille.
There are two main reasons why it makes sense to add a Langrad-X3-X3 in China. The Posh Crossover is the best-selling single product from BMW worldwide that covered the 3-series sedan, although the 3 Series is still ahead as soon as they add the tour. China is the largest market in the company on which the previous X3 in 2023 made about 40% of all X model sales.
BMW Brilliance’s joint venture produces the X3 G48 in Shenyang. From 2026 the JV will also build a Langrad-X3. The new Electric SUV became part of the upcoming family and was teased at the beginning of this week during the BMW group’s press conference.
